It's spring break time, look for the next issue of your Eastender News on May 4th.
On Thursday we heard a most interesting presentation from Abigail Parker, owner of Nourished Revival. She provides individual programs to folks who want to take control of their health thru food. She spoke to the evils of non-natural sugar in our diet, it's everywhere. Abigail encouraged us to take a fresh look at the nutrition labels on our food products and note the amount of added sugar, it can be a lot. Instead of artificial sweeteners, she especially dislikes Aspartame, she suggested using honey. Interested in finding out more, link here http://nourishedrevival.com
Prez Rodney reminded everyone about our Color Run on June 1st @ Belk Park and available sponsorships.
Heads up-In a few weeks we plan to start profiling each member in our weekly newsletter. Look for an email from RickH requesting some bio info. Start thinking about what you would like to share about yourself.

It was great having RobinK in the house. She recently complete training and testing to become a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Congrats!
Congrats to TammyI on two years of service.
MarkV was the last to arrive @12:10. JohnP, PaulH and ChrisH arrived just prior.
The SRI foodies (slide right in) crowd included PattiA, PaulH and JohnP.
Opening duties were handled by BradP, AllenH and MarkV.
14 members dined on sliced pork, whipped taters w/gravy, roasted squash, rolls, salad and jello shots/cake.
SAA Patti levied fines for wearing red in honor of the Cards home opener and not being involved with eggs on Easter.
The $340 +/- jackpot was left on the table by RobinK and BradP. AllenH won the scratch-off. There are now 17 cards left in the deck.

In 1907, two Seattle teenagers, Claude Ryan and Jim Casey, founded UPS in a basement and called it the American Messenger Company. In 1919, the company saw its first expansion to new markets, including Oakland, California, and changed its name to United Parcel Service (UPS). That year, the company's signature brown mail trucks also made their debut. By 1930, UPS reached the East Coast and moved its headquarters to New York City.

The WR club heard a presentation by Melissa Erker about Conoco-Phillips developing a plan to help move the U.S. toward energy independence. The EA club learned about martial arts. That was a real kick in the head!
April birthday greeting went out to PaulG, TommieM and LeonardB.
LoriP was pushing BaseballMania tickets.
JohnP was encouraging ticket sales for the upcoming Mouse Derby.
PaulH announced that the 50-50 drawing at the recent combined club meeting generated a $117 donation for Operation Blessing.
Two EA-WR students visited the WR meeting-Matthew Sanders and Kelsey Westbrook.
Rose Sebastian won the $214 EA jackpot while LeonardB missed his chance to claim the $80 WR jackpot.
It was noted that AllenH managed to eclipse MarkS. (Not sure what that meant but the word eclipse is topical, so we go with it.)
GeorgeM paid a $5 fine for his late arrival as the meeting greeter.

HAVING A PURPOSE

Extraordinary.
Amazing.
Spectacular.
This is how I feel about Rotary. I’ll be 90 years old in June and joined Rotary at a relatively late age. I went on my first volunteer trip to Guatemala in 2006 to help install stoves for Mayan families. Those stoves changed their lives, and the experience changed mine.
As we installed stoves, I enjoyed talking with the families and asked them what other assistance would be helpful. Most often, someone would reply that clean drinking water would be the most significant improvement. I promised them I would help, and that became my purpose in Rotary.
When you reach my age, you realize that without a purpose, you are like a rudderless boat. Purpose with a capital “P” gives one the excitement to live. I learned how Rotary Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) grants worked and began putting them together. I realized these grants could be extraordinarily impactful because they used both district funds and matching funds from The Rotary Foundation.
I approached other clubs in my district and elsewhere in the U.S. and Canada. Amazingly, the idea caught on. Soon, we were doing grants for clean water all over the world. As of 2023, these water projects have helped more than 2 million people in 34 countries. If that’s not spectacular, I don’t know what is! My Purpose has become a Passion. 10:10 a.m. A Kalispell man reported that his pajama-clad wife had stepped outside to have a smoke in the morning and never came back in.
2:19 p.m. A woman who had just adopted a rescue dog was unable to catch the dog, which was sprinting continuously around her yard.
5:02 p.m. A woman threw a bottle of baby formula at her nephew after he kept waking up her baby.
9:02 p.m. Several dead rabbits were left on some parked cars, possibly the work of some teenagers spotted drinking in the parking lot earlier that evening.
11:57 p.m. Someone kept revving their large diesel truck, to the annoyance of some neighbors.
1:48 a.m. A six-on-six fight in a bar parking lot was mutually agreed to, didn’t involve weapons, and was resolved with no injuries
11:18 a.m. A car speeding through Kalispell had a “train horn” on it and nearly ran another car off the road.
9:46 p.m. Some teenagers were driving around a parking lot shooting each other with Nerf guns.
12:19 a.m. Someone set up a bunch of cones across the highway.
8:53 a.m. There were too many stray cats in a Kalispell neighborhood.
10:43 a.m. A woman called 911 because she was concerned that her ex-boyfriend’s cows weren’t going to be properly cared for now that she’d moved out.
