           YOU TALKIN' TO ME?
  • Wendell presented a informative program about his recent visits to Cuba. There is no video.
  • Allen, Wendell and Pat were the early birds. Among the last of the 24 members to arrive were Joe, Patty, Dave and Lindsey.
  • Style kudos to Lindsey for her new do and Pat for his dapper chapeau.
  • The food line featured beef 'n noodles, mashed taters, corn off the cobb, mini rolls, fresh from the can fruit salad and regular salad. Sandy thought that her bowl of fruit salad was starting to ferment.
  • Bill did a fine job of sharing the pepper and offering the 50-50 tickets as part of a high pressure sales tactic.
  • Where did you watch the eclipse? It proved to be a spiritual experience. Post-eclipse related traffic was very heavy on northbound I-55 and I-57.The next total eclipse will pass near us on April 8, 2024. FYI-the difference between 99.9% and total is huge.
  • Brad 2 brought our only guest.
  • Prez Bill announced that the Bethalto club is sponsoring a three person bean bag toss at the Labor Day festival on September 3rd. $75 entry fee.
  • Rhonda and Lindsey are rounding up members and students to staff the Soap Box crosswalks on September 9th. It' not too late to put your signature on the sign-up sheet.
  • Sandy just don't understand the fine folks of the Tri-Cities area including Brooklyn.
  • SAA Lindsey returned with a plea to help her understand an adult tonsillectomy (she will be undergoing one soon). Chris 2 was her money dude. Trivia questions centered on past and future RI conventions and the new People of Action campaign.
  • On wag, who will go nameless (Chris 1) suggested that meeting protocol started going sidewise about the same time Bill began offering a birthday kiss.
  • Sherry tried to scoot while the lights were dimmed. Didn't work.
  • The $9 50-50 jackpot was untouched by Joe and Brad 1. Dave took care of the scratch-off.
  • Opening duties were performed by Dave, everyone and Darren
  • That's all from here. Have a fine and dry weekend.

LEAD WITH A PASSION FOR ROTARY

By Michael Bucca, past president of the Rotary Club of Central Ocean – Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Passion is infectious, and that couldn’t be more true about Rotary! I spent a wonderful year of my life leading a great group of people. I say it because I really mean it. The joy and pleasure that being president of my club brought to me is immeasurable. It caused Rotary to become a part of who I am forever. This deep belief about Rotary had an incredible side effect, the members started feeling that way too! Our club members believe the club is doing well. Our members believe they have a purpose in the club and in Rotary. They also believe they are a part of a worldwide organization, not just a sleepy lunch meeting in town. They have made Rotary a part of who they are. To continue reading, link here http://bit.ly/2vZeKGO

SMILE

A man walks into a bar and orders a drink. Then he notices there are pieces of meat nailed to the ceiling of the bar so he asks the barman what they are for. The barman replies, "If you can jump up and pull one of them down you get free beer all night. If you fail, you have to pay the bar $100. Do you want to have a go?"

The man thinks about it for a minute before saying, "Nah, the steaks are too high!"
