NEWS, NOTES & NONSENSE
WAS THE FAKE JOKER CALLING HER NAME?
Lori introduced our program speaker, Jack Wilcox. He is the founder of "Just Keep Walkin'", an organization that offers assistance to Madison County residents who are dealing with an opiate addiction. Take a look at the video.
23 members dined on baked chicken, taters au gratin, the ever present g-beans (Wendell requests some tri-colored beans) , salad, formerly warm buns, fruit crisp and coconut cream pie. Sandy was so anxious to eat that she helped stock the buffet.
Early arrivals included 'early bird' Lori, Allen, Sandy, Pat and Mark 1. Paul was up to his old tricks, arriving at 12:23. Brad 1, Rhonda and Patty arrived a bit earlier.
Don't forget to put the Installation Dinner on your calendar. It's June 29th. Fellowship @ 6, dinner @ 6:30. The sign up sheet is now making the rounds. If you signed up on line there's no need to put your name on the hard copy list.
We have made $915 in Baseball Mania sales to date. Lori has $'s for 132 of our 300 hardcopy tickets. There's still about 6 weeks to sell your paper or online tickets.
Opening duties were provided by Ty, Brad 2 and Roger.
Paul who?
SAA Bill was once again AWOL. This time he was in Peoria. Next week...
The presidential satchel returned, much to Sherry's relief. She is now sporting the traditional June grin.
Sandy suffered a serious ranch attack. She recovered without a Shout.
There's no need to feel sorry for Joe or Sherry.
After being insulted by our Prez, ( a monumental 4-way test violation) Rick sought Lindsey's help with the SAA duties. Trivia topics included BlackRock, Nokia, handbags and a hammer and sickle. Golden Earrings 1973 song Radar Love did mention that Brenda Lee was "coming on strong". Chris 1 knew.
Got your tax bill? Smile!
Lindsey and Rick drew 50-50 from the previous week. Roger and Lori took their shot at Thursday's $110 50-50 merry-go-round. None drew the "alternative" joker. And by the way, lucky Lori also received the scratch-off.
That's all from here. Have a fine and dry weekend.

I have heard a variety of interesting stories about why the rural Costa Rican town I live in as a Peace Corps volunteer is called Monterrey. My favorite is the literal translation: “King of the Grass,” explained by a wizened elderly gentleman as the place his family settled to farm cattle because of its nutritious vegetation. On a good day, I can get a clear view of the Arenal Volcano and see the lush farmland that stretches endlessly below. The view is breathtaking. It truly is a green kingdom.
My path to becoming a “loyal subject” of Monterrey was influenced by a lifelong involvement in community service. I grew up participating in the Girl Scouts, 4-H, and Key Club. As an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley, I volunteered at Kiva – a nonprofit that makes small loans to empower entrepreneurs around the world.
One of the highlights of my undergraduate experience was starting a student group that partnered with Kiva to offer no-interest microloans to low-income entrepreneurs in Oakland, California, USA. Our first borrower used the profits generated from her microloan to fund her son’s college education. As I am the daughter of a university professor, being able to impact someone’s life this way left a powerful impression. The experience cemented my commitment to a career in local economic development. To continue reading link here https://tinyurl.com/yc2ks3ux
