On Thursday Prez Bill returned to the podium and ticked us with three different Halloween related quiz treats.
Next week MarkA has invited Dave Hardwick to speak to us about the Sleep in Heavenly Peace program.
Early arrivals included AllenH, Prez Bill and MarkA.
The Turkey Fund jar is now circulating. It will be available every Thursday until Thanksgiving. We have collected $194 to date. All funds will be donated to Operation Blessing. Please make your check payable to Operation Blessing.Thanks for your generous support!
Not trying to read too much meaning into it, but, after SandyS expressed her avoidance of too much sunlight BradP suggested that her issue may be related to something Halloween-ish.
Birthday greets go out to RobinK on the 8th.
Congrats to DonnaK on 14 years of club service and to PattyW on her 11 years of service.
MarkSm reported that we will net over $1,600 for our Chili Dinner. Great job!
SandyS brought WendellR a nice slice of cake to celebrate his recent natal day (and to keep him from whining.)

SAA Patti fined everyone who had not donned a Halloween costume this season.
We had 19 members carb-loading on cheese filled tortellini, cheezy taters, rolls, salad and spooky treats.
PaulH and JohnP each looked for the elusive joker and claim the $318 jackpot.There are 9 cards left. For the second week in a row GeorgeM won the scratch-off.

The EA club heard a presentation from a representative of Well Spring Resources agency. DaveA introduced Father Val who spoke about the poverty in Ennery, Haiti, where his church is located.
26 EA members dined on BBQ pork sammies and mac 'n cheese.
It was nice to have VirgilM in the house.
EA-WR Junior Rotarians Alex Harmon and Becca Billings chowed down with the WR members.
Thanks was offered to ScottL for organizing the recent Punt, Pass and Kick competition. Helpers at that event and the recent Adopt A Highway cleanup day were also thanked. They included JohnP, MikeK, JeanK and PaulG.
Roger Werts reported that, to date, the net chili proceeds were $1,360, with some ticket $ outstanding.
BradP told everyone that there were 13 folks riding in the Halloween trolly.
Happy Fines were paid by PaulG and JeanK.
The Turkey Fund had collected $80 to date.
LoriP was celebrating her 39th wedding anniversary to Rodney.

MARK ALLISON
A Boomer born in Danville,Il with a brother who was 3 years older and who still looks out for me today.
After Dad’s transfers to Peoria and then Alton we settled in the Edwardsville school district in the tiny town of Moro.
Many of my life’s problems may have been due to me not attending kindergarten. My first job at 8 years old was delivering newspapers for the Alton Evening Telegraph. Usual childhood memories include school activities of band, sports, dating and other part time jobs on local farm and gas stations. Our family attended the Roxana Church of the Nazarene. Becoming a Christian there and participating in the activities of the church for over half century has been a highlight of my life. I attended college at Lewis and Clark Community College, Illinois College, and SIUE and earned an AA, BA and MBA degrees.
Along the way I met my wife, Nancy at MacMurray College and we married and have been together over 52 years. We have two daughters, Jessica Swanson, an educational consultant in Washington DC and her husband Nate who works at the State Department with two sons, our favorite grandsons Luke and Benjamin, and Sarah Allison an elementary school teacher in San Francisco.
I was fortunate to be employed at the Wood River Refinery and thankful for them paying for most of my college. Various positions spanning 39 years including Operations Supervision and Accounting and Finance and Fire crew Captain assignments while staying employed as the refinery ownership changed from Shell to Equilon to Tosco to Conoco and Phillips. Other activities included activities with my daughters, hunting, golfing, rental properties, house building, running an apple orchard, 17 years volunteering with Habitat for Humanity as construction foreman on 10 projects, President of Lewis and Clark Habitat Affiliate and receiving the Rotary Paul Harris award from the Edwardsville Rotary Club for my service in Habitat. I joined The East Alton Rotary Club in 2012 after an invitation from High School track opponent and life long friend Allen Hale. The Rotary programs, service projects and fellowship are an important part of my membership and I look forward to many more years in the club.
Retirement activities include traveling with my wife, time with my grandsons, building beds with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, yard work, golfing, reading and beach time in Florida for the winters.
