21 Rotarians dined on "toasty" cream of broc soup, giant bakers (w/condiments), regular and Caesar salads and cake.
Allen was the first to arrive, followed in short order by Mark 1, Wendell and Colonel Dave, yes Dave. Paul proudly assumed the mantle of last in. He beat Roger, Mark 2, and Brad 1.
Bethalto Rotarian Neena was in the house selling cash-a-palooza tickets. 1st place is worth $1500, 2nd-$500 and 3rd $250. The drawing will be held at the Bethalto Homecoming on September 5th. If you need a ticket, she can be reached @ 659.4140. She told us that her club is now meeting Tuesday evenings at the Village Hall. There will be a blood drive next Tuesday (23rd) at the Village Hall, 3-6PM
Sandy had a plan to wreak havoc at the meeting. Wendell and Bill kept her in check.
The AC was working overtime.
Don't forget that exchange student Daniela is arriving this Sunday (21st). Her Delta flight is scheduled to around 8:30AM. Terminal 1, concourse A. Everyone is welcome to come and greet her. Sherry, Rhonda and Rick have committed to form the club greeting vanguard.
Is Paul still practicing? Yes, until he gets it right.
The trip down the musical memory lane included the Mississippi River Festival, The Grainery, Ricco's II, Paul Revere and The Raiders in Godfrey. What was the name of the head shop on Broadway in Alton?
Look for the Family Steak Cookout sign-up sheet next week. Once clearance from Mark 3 is gained, look for a call from Sally Speciale to confirm your side dish.
Opening duties were provided by Chris 1, Matt and Bill, who prayed for a pick on Allen day...and Jesus wept.
SAA Bill recruited Rhonda who worked the crowd hard. 590 Fred, Roger, Bill and Rick had announcements. Don't forget to wear your name badge! Trivia topics included Sir Paul, voting women, Boston Braves and safety cones at Village Hall. ...and Jesus wept.
Is there really a burnt seasoning??
Fred and Mark 1 drew the cards, Chris 1 the scratch-off. The $52 jackpot rolled.
That's all from here. Have a fine and dry weekend.

GINA'S CLUB
How to reach prospective members in the workplace
By Gina McBryan, a member of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
We all have our stories of how we were introduced to Rotary, and for the most part, those stories are positive. I could have been a Rotary member much sooner, had someone approached me.
I’m sure every club encourages their members to bring along guests and sponsor new members. For the past five years I have been a Rotary member, I’ve heard the same words of encouragement from my club leaders. And worldwide, our membership totals have remained stable. This makes me think of that line about the definition of insanity, “doing the same thing over and over again yet expecting different results.”
This made me think of my own experience, why didn’t I find out about Rotary before 2011? How come no one invited me to visit a Rotary meeting? It wasn’t that I lived in a remote part of the world where there wasn’t any clubs. In fact, there were four clubs in my local community. Maybe I even worked alongside Rotarians and didn’t know it. The fact is, I didn’t know anything about Rotary until I moved to the Cayman Islands and was introduced to a local club by my cousin, who is a member. GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED
Raising teenagers is like nailing Jello to a tree
Wrinkles don't hurt
Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts
Today's might oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground
Laughing is good exercise, it's like jogging on the inside
