SHARING A LAUGH WITH THE DGE
NEWS-NOTES-NONSENSE
On Thursday we had a fun session of improv team building hosted by Mike McGuire of Comedy Sportz St. Louis. As we moved around the room we learned that walk meant stop and jump meant clap. The company hosts improve comedy sessions that are played as sport. Mike pointed out that reacting in the moment makes you a better listener. We had some fun. The slide right in gang included regulars-WendellR and PaulH.

TylerL announced that the sign-up sheet for the Soapbox Race on the 9th is now circulating. He also informed us that there is now a 5K race that will preceed the car races.
Former member Martha Morse paid us a visit while she considers rejoining our club. She had lots of praise and some Q's about our scholarship program. Let's hope she rejoins our merry gang.

It was nice having ErinP in the house.
MarkV shared that during a recent ethics training class the instructor used the Rotary 4-Way Test as a template for the session.
Opening duties were performed with proper decorum by BradL, WendellR and BillP, who was thankful for the raisin cookies.
20 members dined on zesty Beef Stroganoff, steamed baby carrots, torpedo rolls, Caesar salad and cookies.
District Governor Elect Dan O'Brian was in the house keeping an eye on LeonardB.
Last to arrive included TylerL, LeonardB and ChrisH.
SAA PattiA asked automobile Q's. We managed to answer 2 out of 4 correctly. Do you know that the Chevrolet Corvette was assembled in STL at a facility located at Union and Natural Bridge until August 1,1981. LeonardB and RickH paid Happy Fines.
MarkSm and SandyS drew non-face cards while GeorgeM won the scratch-off.
The meeting concluded with a gentle ding by Prez Rodney.

Winding its way through the national capital, the Potomac is aptly nicknamed the “Nation’s River.” The Potomac forms the southern headwaters of Chesapeake Bay, one of the East Coast’s most significant estuaries. Flowing through Virginia and Maryland, the river runs 380 miles to Maryland’s Tidewater at Point Lookout.

MarkSp was looking for helpers to assit with the Chili Supper on October 23rd.
SteveD was the WR meeting greeter.
PaulH and MarkSp missed the opportunity to claim the 50-50 jackpot.

SERVING IS THE BEST MEDICINE

Just when I thought my health had thwarted my desire to serve, I discovered I could still serve and that serving is the best medicine there is.
In 2021, I had plans, career goals, dreams, and projects waiting to be executed. But at the age of 28, I was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord. I faced many procedures and require a cane or walker to move about, among other limitations.
With any medical challenge comes fear and question. Why is this happening? What is this going to mean? How am I going to continue to do what I love most within this new reality?
On top of all these, I had accepted the presidencies of two clubs in a single Rotary year, that of my Rotaract and Rotary clubs. I was also a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team for District 4510, a DEI director for the Rotaract district, and incoming District Rotaract Representative.
But what I thought would be a bad Rotary year for the two clubs turned out to be the best of years. Through it all, my sense of belonging to both Rotary and Rotaract grew. To continue reading, link herehttps://rb.gy/by7l8
