WHAT'S NEXT WITH THE MERGER?
MarkS announced that the Wood River club has "overwhelmingly" approved plans to move forward with a merger, including meeting @ Julia's. Our committee met post-meeting to decide on our next move.
We note with great sadness the passing of past president Gregg Kirkland. "Triple G" was a great guy. Those members who were around in the early 2000's would agree.
Birthday wishes to BradL on the 21st and to Lori for 20 years of outstanding club service
Lunch featured pork cutlets w/ milk gravy, mashed and quartered taters, jumbo broccoli, salad, rolls, cookies and chocolate pudding.

If you think about it, the term “speed bump” is a pretty pedestrian way to describe that familiar raised strip in a road intended to slow drivers down. The Brits have a much more creative take: a “sleeping policeman.” The origin of the colloquial term is unclear, but considering that the bumps do act as a subtle law enforcement measure, it’s easy to see how some clever scribe invented it. According to The New York Times, the earliest form of a speed bump was first introduced in Chatham, New Jersey, in 1906. Speed bumps — or sleeping policemen — were introduced in the U.K. in 1983

Barrow Rotary complete 90 miles of cycling for Tour de Furness
Barrow-in-Furness, England-Barrow Rotary Wheelers, former Mayor of Barrow Tony Callister, former Mayoress Janice Callister, and club President Dave Coverdale all took to their bikes for a fourth time to complete the last 50 mile leg of their fundraiser.
Team leader Stephen Murray decided last minute he would start the Bluebird 50 to Coniston a couple of days earlier than planned with the others.
He was up at the crack of dawn and left at 7.30am and was back home by 1pm.
The Bluebird 50 is a new route and very hilly, he was glad to complete it. He was surprised that he enjoyed it so much because it did look a bit daunting and it was windy day.
Barrow Rotary who have already completed the five, 11, and 25 mile routes, with the 50 mile route around Coniston now added to that list.
Stephen Murray of Barrow Rotary, said: “We do it every year. We thought we would do all of the routes.
“Our daughter club Furness Rotary have organised this whole thing and I take my hat off to them for putting it on and raising this money for these charities.
“This is a great community event in my opinion.
“Everyone can join in, if you have got children you could just do the five mile route if you like. There is something there whoever you are.
“Some people may not normally cycle but do this for charity, then hopefully it could be something they get into.
“You can do the assigned routes or do your own it does not matter. You can do it any day in September as well.”
80 per cent of the money raised by individuals will go to their chosen charities whilst the remainder of the money will be divided up to St Mary’s Hospice and other local charities by Furness Rotary. The team wanted to thank everyone who has sponsored them so far.
