LORI RECEIVES POLIO PLUS SOCIETY PIN FROM PREZ ROBIN
NEWS-NOTES-NONSENSE
On Thursday we heard from our own Rotary SpringTraining triple play-Prez Robin, LoriP and RodneyD. Rodney was first up with information about the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund. He related that he joined Rotary in 1994 because of our international involvement with polio eradication. He spoke of his club's project to provide kids with toothbrushes that grew into an international project providing dental care for children in Central America. There are many ways to donate including asking Siri to call Rotary International in Evanston or via the QR code below. Next up was Prez Robin telling us about all the learning options available via the Rotary Learning Center. Check it out at rotary.org. LoriP batted cleanup and talked about Rotary Action Groups and Rotary Fellowships. Some of the Action Groups include-Basic Education and Literacy, Community Economic Development, Diabetes, Disaster Assistance, Health Education and Wellness, the list goes on. The fellowships groups range from Amateur Radio to Yoga, with dozens of interests in between. Well played by all three of our all-stars. By the way, this year's Rotary Day at the Ballpark supporting our literacy program is scheduled for July 29th.

Prez Robin presented LoriP with her Polio Plus Society pin. Congrats!
MarkS announced that in honor of his first anniversary he will be hosting an open house from 11-2 on Saturday April 8th at his office. All are welcome to attend.
BradP was a bit wary of having two "tax guys" on either side of him (MarkV and CoryG) until he was reminded that these guys are on your side.
LoriP will have Baseball Mania tickets available this coming Thursday.
If you have been to the new Chick-fil-A in Glen Carbon let AllenH know. Better yet, bring him a yard bird sammie to sample.
Congrats to RickH on his 32 years of club service.
Prez Robin observed that opening day is one of her favorite days of the year. Who would disagree? She even engaged avid Cubs fan JohnP in some friendly banter when she suggested that the Cubs minor league team plays at Wrigley Field. Rim shot!
Since Prez Robin forgot to register for last Saturdays Rotary Spring Training session she was offered the opportunity to be BillP, who did register, she politely declined. Smart lady.
Brad's P & L were the last two to arrive, preceeded by GeorgeM, PattiA and ChrisH.
19 members noshed on roast beast, nacho cheez covered red taters, rolls, salad and cuppy cakes.
SAA LeonardB was still recovering so RickH pinch hit in Leonard's stead. MarkV stepped up as our lugmeister and managed to collect a few bucks.Not at the Cardinal or
Cubs game? Pay a $. Trivia Q's about baseball, spelling and mountains found no correct answers, pay up. If you thought PatA's birthday is the 3rd, stand down, it's really June 9th.
Opening duties were handled by Prez Robin,
JohnP, who congratulated us on being "good readers" and BillP who was thankful for opening day.
PattiA had a chance at the $427 jackpot and also won the scratch-off. BradP had the 2nd chance at the jackpot. They both wiffed. Maybe you will win it next week?

The name of the Little Missouri National Grassland is a bit misleading. Not only is it located in North Dakota instead of Missouri, but it’s not little at all — it’s the largest grassland in the United States. It covers more than 1 million acres of wide-open plains, craggy buttes, rolling hills, and rugged badlands. It is considered a mixed-grass prairie, which means it has long and short grass. The Little Missouri Grassland is also home to the entirety of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park and its famous painted canyon, as well as White Butte, the highest point in North Dakota.

BradP and ErinP were among the early arrivals at the EA meeting. Among the 23 members in the house RodC, AKA Tax Man, was the solo "scooter".
The WR clubs first East End Park work day was scheduled for April 24th.
Arms of Love Ministries representative Joy Martin made a presentation to the EA club. LeonardB presented a program about elder law to the WR club.
It was noted at the WR meeting that five District 6460 dignitaries attended the recent tri-club meeting.
JoeS served as the SAA sub at the EA meeting. SAA ScottL fined all WR members who did not attend the tri-club (WR, EA and Bethalto) meeting.
RHS Junior Rotarians Breanna Reynolds and Melissa Solt broke bread with the WR members.
LoriP arrived at the EA meeting without voice and anyone to text with, until RhondaB arrived.
Birthday wishes were offered to PaulG and TommieM.
ErinP told the EA club that scholarship students would be selected in the spring in order to provide increased earnings potential.
The $332 WR Queen of Hearts jackpot went unclaimed. Likewise the $32 EA jackpot.

Interact club of Golden Gate International College named "Best Video" in 2022 Interact Awards
The 2022 Interact Awards encouraged Interactors around the world to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across their clubs, communities, and service projects. With submissions totaling over 170 videos, 58 photos, and 72 essays, just three Interact clubs were awarded the titles of "Best Video," "Best Photo," and "Best Essay."
Earning the title of "Best Video" is the Interact club of Golden Gate International College, Nepal. These Interactors partnered with a local sports club to spread awareness about disabilities and reduce bias within their community.
