On Thursday we had the pleasure of hearing from Rev. Julie Gvillo. She told us about her "A Place of Grace" group and all the good they accomplish by helping local non-profit groups. Prez Rodney circulated a Color Run info sheet about the three sponsorship levels. There's also a related sponsorship sheet circulating for members to list their businesses. We are scheduled for June 1st @ Belk Park.
Heads up-In a few weeks we plan to start profiling each member in our weekly newsletter. Look for an email from RickH requesting some bio info. Start thinking about what you would like to share about yourself.

TomS introduced his guest, Kristen, with the Wood River Business Alliance.
The SRI (slide right in) crowd was challenged by the grub table being located opposite the room entrance-JohnP, CoryG, GeorgeM and LeonardB were more than up for the challenge.
Do we gather in room L, R or R? Thursday found us in the back room. SherryT noted that we should all be well behaved since we are gathering in the "fancy" room.
Opening duties were handled by AllenH, RickH and JohnP.
Can spring be far behind when JohnP arrives in shorts and a Cubbie pullover?
LoriP announced that we are sponsoring four students at next month's RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy) and will be providing transportation for five. Lori will invite the students to share their experiences at a future meeting.
We can confirm that BillP will not be joining us for lunch on Thursday. He will be breaking bread (eating a hot dog) with other faithful members of The Cardinal Nation
Bad habits are hard to break, just ask LeonardB. He was the last in @12:15. GeorgeM, CoryG and PattiA were also among the post-nooner crew.
ChrisH wants to know when he will receive his $1,000 no strings attached check from the great state of Illinois?

Also known as Bolivia's Great Salt Lake, Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat. It stretches for 4,086 square miles across the southwestern part of the country near the border with Chile, at a height of 12,000 feet above sea level. During the rainy season (December-April), nearby waterways overflow onto the flats to create a shallow lake. This creates incredibly clear reflections of the sky — and the world’s largest natural mirror. The flats are also a vast lithium reserve; as much as 70% of the world's lithium is believed to lie beneath the surface of the Salar de Uyuni.

CherylM introduced the program at the WR meeting, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Southwestern Illinois. SherryT introduced Todd Kennedy who brought the EA club up to speed on the progress of the Eastgate Plaza redevelopment and gave us a tour of the newly refurbished Julia's. Sherry was sure it would win the Program of the Year honors.
Roxana Church of the Nazarene visiting pastor Andrew announced that he would soon be returning home to New Jersey, not Scotland, pending the arrival of the new pastor Prez Rodney.
The WR Queen of Hearts jackpot has climbed to $557 with no winner in sight while PaulH failed to claim EA jackpot.
RHS Junior Rotarians Jaldyn Peebles and Raeann Rorie were on hand for Speech Day.
MarkA was thanked for sharing his basketball tournament photos. It was the 30th anniversary of the event. JoeS, SherryT and BradP shared some youth coaching funny memories.
DonnaK paid a Happy Fine in honor of the newest Rotarian, her sister-in-law, RobinK.
JeanK and Rhonda Breslin were both pushing tickets for the upcoming Disco Bingo event.

DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIPS
Our district will award four $3,000 District Scholarships to college students for the 2024-25 academic year. The new online application process is easy to complete and submit on the District 6460 Website https://www.rotarydistrict6460.org/ The application deadline is May 31.
All eligibility criteria and requirements are included in the online application. Eligible applicants must have lived in, graduated from high school in, or currently go to a college, university, or vocational/trade school in Rotary District 6460. They must have already completed one year of instruction with a minimum of 24 credit hours. The scholarship may be used for tuition, books, and college fees at a college, university, or vocational/trade school in or outside District 6460 in Illinois and in other states. Applicants must not be Rotarians or relatives of Rotarians, but former Interact and current Rotaract members are eligible to apply.
Encourage college-age students that you know to apply and let the colleges, universities, and vocational/trade schools in your area know about this opportunity. The Scholarship Committee will be distributing a press release and sending electronic flyers to colleges, universities, vocational/trade schools across the district. If you have an educational institution that you would like to receive these materials, please email the name and address to Bonnie Styles, Chair, District 6460 Scholarship Committee at bonstyles@yahoo.com.
