NEWS, NOTES & NONSENSE
SPREADING CHRISTMAS CHEER
  • Our wonderful "super secret" program was presented by a group 14 Roxana High School students along with leader Judy McGill. They sang a half dozen Christmas songs. Their presentation was not recorded, but was a great way to kick off the Christmas season.
  • 21 members dined on the teen friendly lunch buffet. Depending on who you talked to, we either had Brad1's "county fair (fare)" lunch (it's all fried) or Wendell's "expiration date" meal.
  • Bill subbed for Prez Sherry and was hopeful that we would not need to take up a bail collection for her. The early arrivals, Bill, Brad2 and Mark1, were all wondering about Lori's whereabouts. No worries, she arrived in time to corral the kids and welcome Patty, Fred and Rhonda.
  • Opening duties were provided by Darren, Rod and Allen.
  • SAA Bill skipped the trivia but had Patty collecting a bunch of $$ with some slam-dunk fines. Roger's finger prints were all over one of them.
  • The donation container for our adopted family is making the rounds. Chris1 reports that things are shaping up nicely. The two oldest children will have bikes under the Christmas tree.
  • Both Wendell and Allen arrived looking a bit discombobulated.
  • Chris2 looks like he has the skill to be a professional line jumper.
  • Rod and Mark3 were busy comparing snowbird notes.
  • By the way, Lori pointed out that two of the students, Jessica and Hanna, are RYLA students.
  • Bill circulated the list for the Winter Wonderland gig on December 9th. By the end of the meeting there were only a couple of vacancies. Who will be our Santa??
  • There are only a couple of open Salvation Army bell ringing slots, both on December 22nd at the Wood River Shop 'N Save. Do you remember what shift you signed up for?
  • It's last call for the Christmas party.
  • Sometimes Bill thinks he is at a Kiwanis meeting.
  • Bill bagged the 50-50 pull because it wasn't in the cards! Hold on to your winning ticket for next week's drawing.
  • That's all from here. Have a fine and dry weekend.
FEEDING FRENZY!

DATELINE:RI

(The Rotary Foundation has received the highest possible score from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S. In the most recent ratings, released on September 1st, the Foundation earned the maximum 100 points for both financial health and accountability.)

ROTARY FOUNDATION NAMED WORLD'S OUTSTANDING FOUNDATION FOR 2016

The Association of Fundraising Professionals has recognized The Rotary Foundation with its annual Award for Outstanding Foundation.

The award honors organizations that show philanthropic commitment and leadership through financial support, innovation, encouragement of others, and involvement in public affairs. Some of the boldest names in American giving — Kellogg, Komen, and MacArthur, among others —are past honorees.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from the AFP, which gives us even more reason to celebrate during our Foundation’s centennial year,” says Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Kalyan Banerjee. “The continued strong support of Rotary members will help us keep our promise of a polio-free world for all children and enable the Foundation to carry out its mission of advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace. We look forward to another 100 years of Rotary members taking action to make communities better around the world.”  To continue reading, link here http://tinyurl.com/jxcntkx
