NEWS, NOTES & NONSENSE
CLAUS'S WAITING ROOM
Let's review...
Paul and Joe wound up saving our communal bacon at the Winter Wonderland event. "Captain" Bill did a fine job herding the 15 cats. Rodney and Rick were sporting appropriate Grinch head wear. Mark3 served as our favorite Santa. Chris1 had the coldest hands. How much money did we collect? Ask Lori. There were about 400 cars rolling through the park that evening.
Rhonda, Patti and Bill hosted our Christmas party at the Alton Sports Tap. There were about 35 attendees, including Dani. The autograph hunt proved to be the hit of the night. No one would claim to have been "awarded" speeding tickets. Table 3 won the Rotary Family Feud. There were several questions about Rudolph's popularity. Dani was presented with earrings and $$$.
Chris1 delivered our Christmas gift donations to our adopted family on December 20th. Lori and crew distributed 15 Christmas flowers on December 9th. Well played to all!
What's new...
Boys & Girls Club of Bethalto Director Cathy Wilson provided the program. She shared a very heartwarming Christmas story. The video has been posted.
16 later arriving members braved the crummy weather to break bread on Thursday. Allen and Wendell arrived at 11:46. Rhonda, Chris2, Paul and Chris1 arrived after the stroke of noon.
Forget black eyed peas for good luck in a New Year, we had fried chicken. Nuf said! The dessert table included pumpkin and pecan pies, German chocolate cake.
Happy New Year greetings were in vogue.
Allen was happy to end his Christmas hiatus and get back to work (Pam probably agrees).
Our first meeting of the year was substitute day. Bill for Sherry, Rick for Bill and Joe for Cory. Lori had no understudy.
Sandy assured us that Sherry planned to wave to Mark's 1 & 3 and Dick on her way to Lauderdale. Don't look for her return before the 19th.
Joe enjoyed his five day stay in "Big D" and enjoyed watching the Cowboys play in Jerry's playpen. Rhonda had a good time too!
Chris2 reported that the basketball tourney sign-up list is making the rounds. Plenty of help is required, no experience necessary!
Bill announced that we had received thank you notes from the Kunz family, Operation Blessing and from one of the Christmas flower recipients.
We welcomed Tommie from Wood River and Nathan, a vet who was Brad2's guest.
Rhonda is interested in your Christmas party feedback. She was not impressed with the grub. Your thoughts?
Chris1 called Sandy "a ray of sunshine". Some context may be necessary.
SAA sub Rick asked questions about the movies, Barbie and chickens. Have you ever eaten a Jack in the Box taco? Be honest. Bill favored facial hair.We recognized Dave's nine year tenure with the club.
Opening duties were provided by Joe, Randy and Dave.
50-50 opportunities were rejected by Sandy (she blamed Paul) and Lori. Chris2 had no success with the scratch-off. The $40 jackpot awaits its next challenge.
That's all from here. Have a fine and dry weekend.

This month, visitors to Rotary.org will discover a new, contemporary site that tells Rotary’s story in a fresh and exciting way. It’s the first step in a two-part process to refresh our entire website: first the public site, Rotary.org, and then My Rotary.
Some of the changes will be obvious: a modern design, increased use of imagery and graphics to tell our stories, and better organization of content to help readers find out who we are and what we’re doing. Others, like the improved speed of the site, will be a welcome surprise.
We believe these changes will more clearly show that Rotary is making the world a better place — and will persuade potential members and donors to support our work by joining a club, volunteering on a project, or donating to a cause. Visit Rotary.org to see all the improvements we’ve made.
