On this date in 1690, Massachusetts issued the first paper money in the American colonies and the Western World for that matter. Massachusetts was indeed a truly pioneering colony when it came to money, as they were also the first to mint their own silver coins in 1652. Like Massachusetts, Rotary has pioneered to become the world’s first service club in 1905. And we are still making history today by changing the world for the better with every service project that we complete.
