Monthly Board Meeting Minutes

February 6, 2019
Present:  President Maila Berry, Jim Hohman, Jay Mayo, Jim Fusco, Leslie Storrs, Jeanie Storrs, Ellen Gale, Rick Vallee, Roger Duchesne and Michael Gale (phone).
President Maila B. called the meeting to order at 7:15 a.m.
 
Secretary’s Report

Minutes of January 9, 2019 presented. Jim H moved to accept. Jim F seconded. Board passed.  

 

January monthly attendance was 861.84% and year-to-date is 82.76%
 
Treasurer’s Report 
 
Leslie S presented Income/Expense report from 7/1/18 - 1/31/19 along with Restricted Funds report. Ellen moved to accept. Jeanie seconded. Board passed.
 
It was noted on the Restricted Funds report that the balance is $279.37 due to the 2nd request of Care Initiative bags of supplies needed on 1/31.  
 
Membership Report
 
Looking for ideas tomorrow at club forum on membership. We do have the Care Initiative Trivia Night coming up in April, Chamber Youth Social event in May. There are still 2 potential new members Joan Martinic and Mike Toomey.  Mike from Enterprise Bank should be starting in the June time frame.
 
Public Relations
 
Leslie sent Paul Harris Awards pic/write-up to be published in paper and posted on FaceBook our Care Initiative assembly we recently had at LCU. 
 
Foundation Report
 
Jim H reported to send Foundation money next quarter. Need to schedule date in June with Joan's family for presentation of Paul Harris award.

Discussion Items
May 2nd Monty Broc will celebrating "35 years" in the making. Leslie and President Maila will have something special planned that morning.
 
District Local Grant Project Deb - another successful assembly of about 100+ bags completed at LCU on 1/31. Trivia Night is being organized w/ date TBD and a grant trivia night fund raiser that could also be leveraged to work in our membership drive efforts.
 
Bylaws - It was discussed that electronic meetings will count but no more than 1 per quarter. Bylaws will be sent to BOD to review the notes from the 12/13 meeting and final presentation will be presented to club. 
 
Food Dollars- Still trying too coordinate with Joan or some other representative at the Fitchburg Senior Center. to accept and capture photos presenting the $250 donation check.
 
Interact Update - Meeting on 2/5 at Monty Tech with Interact students for presentation of Hat, Mitten, Glove drive @ 2:45. Will present Interact pins to students that day with other Rotarians to supporting and cheering them on. 
 
RYLA interview process will be on 2/11 which Lynn, Roger and Maddy will be present. Let's have Interact brochures given during interviews. Leslie made motion to send payment of 2 sponsors and we'll have 1 Shine student by 3/1. Roger seconded. Board passed. 
 
Visioning Teams - Opportunity team will work on getting guest book for our speakers/guest to sign in.
 
Chamber Youth program - Maddy attended last meeting to go over in creating a social event. Date given is May 23rd @ Oak Hill CC. North Central Mass Chamber Expo is running a Leadership Series for college students that graduated and/are looking for an internship to do community service projects. 1 person from each club to educate, "What is Rotary?" Where we meet and looking for support, etc. 
 
The October 4th date has been booked at WCC for the 2019 Comedy Show. Need to focus on Sponsorship and Ads now. Andrea, Roger and Ellen are the Chairs.
 
Read email update and passed around expenses from Michelle Gasbarro on Gbarnga Mission Project that Jon Rossman is leading there.
 
Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Century 21, Leominster @ 7:15 a.m.
