Welcome to the first issue of the weekly bulletin for the 2022-2023 Rotary year!
My goal is to provide a weekly update on club happenings, a rolling 4 week schedule of upcoming events and perhaps some announcements and/or sign up sheets.

NOTE: Until we have a more permanent home, we will continue to meet at LCU. I would suggest that we all BYO coffee and maybe take turns bringing in donuts or muffins or pastries. I will bring some next week and we can discuss then!
We started off the day with a weekly focus word. The word of the week is DILIGENT. It comes from the Latin word, diligere which means to value highly, take delight in. In English, we often translate this concept to mean “working hard”. The English definition is “careful and serious in your work, or done in a careful and determined way.” We are missing the connection between diligence and delight. What happens when we only give effort in order to cross off a task, but disassociate our delight from our effort? We compromise our potential. We can say that care is not required to complete a task; however, the person who does care and delights in that task completes it in a way that displays true character.
We celebrated a birthday and some Rotary anniversaries - see above!
We discussed the possibility of doing a gift card raffle. Soliciting donations from area businesses to reach $1,000 in gift cards and then selling raffle chances for $20 each. Also considered the possibility of making it a calendar raffle instead of a Winner-Take-All. Jim Fusco passed along the name of a Rotarian in our district who has a company that facilitates this sort of fundraiser. I have a call scheduled with him on Monday. Stay tuned!
Discussed the possibility of having a table at the Johnny Appleseed Festival on 9/24 to promote and sell the raffle tickets and maybe some raffle baskets.
Announced attendance incentive. Every week that you show up in person or on Zoom (and Zoom will eventually be discontinued) your name will be entered into a raffle. At the end of the year, a winner will be picked and a prize will be won! Prize is TBD!
Discussed scheduling club members to take turns acting as our speaker on club forum days. Looking for two volunteers for 7/21 and two volunteers for 8/18!
