Get Up and Go!
Student of the month today!!
Nancy Storm started things out with her wonderful explanation of the Rotary principals including the 4 way test.  She reminded the students of the contest regarding the 4-way test and Rotary’s  fight against polio.
Student of the month began with the DaVinci High students.

Susan Kirby introduced Sofia (11th grader). Being honored for being a peer tutor supporting Special Ed students one on one. Susan described Sophia as having a “Friendly nature that provides a welcoming learning atmosphere.”
Susan also introduced Nick (12th grader).  Nick left DaVinci for 11th grade but came back.  Nick “left as a bystander and came back as a leader on our campus”.  His internship with UCD has solidified his decision to study plant biology.

Davis High was the next school to honor its students. :  Tom McHale introduced P.E. teacher Julie Crawford who honored Cassie (unable to attend).  Cassie is a hard worker and exceptionally kind to her fellow students.
Tom then introduced former student and current Language teacher James who introduced his Spanish student Parsa.  Parsa is early to class and is thoroughly engaged throughout the entire class.  He also engages James and helps him teach the class with his clarifying and engaging questions.
DSIS Principal introduced Alex Gonzalez, a student in business law.  She is a critical thinker and diligent worker.  Alex is always looking for real world applications for her academic work.  She is also an artist who sells some of her work on Etsy!  She has shown her art in a show and is using it to help fight her shyness.  Alex is starting at Sac City College soon and will be studying architecture.

King High was represented by “awesome teacher Blair” who talked about King High student Daniel Zunios.  He is a “caretaker of plants, earner of massive credits and an awesome scholar.”  He contributes every day to the brightness at King!

In the day’s announcements, Amanda from Rotaract is hosting a panel of Rotarians to talk about their careers and how they got involved in Rotary.  The panel discussioin will be Tuesday, April 23, 7 - 8 p.m.
