President Rose kicked things off at a timely 7:08am.  Your ever trustworthy reporter noted that no one was sitting at President Rose’s table… seems like the glamour of spending an extra $20 to sit at President Rose’s table is wearing off.

Being ever vigilante, your reporter missed the opening monologue by President Rose.  She was talking about a trip involving a plane, visiting rotary projects in foreign countries, and doing some praying related to her travels.

Much like President Rose’s table, we had no visiting Rotarians.
In terms of visitors, Lori Raineri had a longtime friend by the name of Jay join us.  We had two students representing Engineers without Borders, and Dennis Lindsay had his lovely bride Mara join us.  Dick Berry also brought his lovely bride Judy to join us for breakfast.  Vanessa Errecarte brought Ella to have fun with us.

In terms of announcements, Brodie Hamilton remembered to mention Ribs & Rotary is coming up.  Jeff Adamski announced there were spots still for serving adult beverages – apparently the Carbahal brothers have been banned from serving beer or wine opening up several serving spots.  This reporter notes that the Carbahal’s have been banned due to their propensity to “serve one drink to you… and serve myself two drinks”.  Not a good way to make money.

Vanessa Errecarte checked with the club about possible dates to help Farm Davis build a new tractor shed (apparently we helped with the tractor).

Marc Thompson announced that Grad night is just around the corner again… volunteers are needed for both setup and tear down.  25-30 people are needed starting on June 13th.

While delighting in crispy, but not burned bacon, your reporter missed the announcement about a camp for 8th graders… something to do with running.  Good thing this reporter gave up running… unless being chased.

On May 29th, there will be an Auto Show to support the Davis High Auto Shop, so if you have an old car, please contact them about showing it.  Hmmm, maybe my puke green 1979 Gremlin has a future life.

Roy Kroener sent an anonymous, unmarked post card from Sedona.  How the postcard arrived is a bit of a mystery given the lack of postage.

Who is in charge of Rotary Pies for Ribs & Rotary?  People are itching to start baking.

Joshua and Senage from Engineers without Borders joined us to express their appreciate for our Club’s support and gave us an update on the projects they have been working on.  Given the water project in Peru, this reporter knows of some areas here in California that could use the students help is building and operating safe drinking water systems.

Judy Berry and Mara Lindsay were honored with Paul Harris awards for all of the work and support they have given to our Rotary club…even without being actual Rotary members.  This was a great ceremony and this is something this reporter thinks our club should do on a more regular basis.

So someone made a mistake and let Manny Carbahal have mic and be sergeant for the day. This reporter was under the impression of a Rotary International Order to not allow Manny unsupervised time with a mic in front a group of Rotarians and guests.  I guess folks have forgotten the good old days when Manny could make a sailor blush.

Maybe it was fitting that Stephanie Carbahal kicked things off with happy bucks for the impending baby boy that will be joining the Carbahal family.   Manny looked like a very proud uncle.

Chuck Snipes gave happy bucks for brewing beer with Tim Daleiden and Jim Belenis at Nomad Brewing.  Apparently this beer will be used at Ribs & Rotary  - hope the Club’s liability insurance is fully paid and up to date.

Keith Watenpaugh gave happy bucks for the all female Davis Boy Scout Troop winning best unit award.  Congrats!

Apparently Jeff Adamksi was went on a hiking trip through Colorado with Patsy Inouye and gave happy bucks that they are still speaking after the trip.

Carolyn Stivers gave happy bucks for her sister who is retired and apparently being hired out as a contractor and spent a recent visit stripping wallpaper and redoing Carolyn’s bathroom.

At this point Manny started into the regular part of the Sargents report.  After some strange references to “never being an alter boy or an Eagle Scout”, Manny asked for gardeners to stand up and give thanks for Naked Gardening Day.  Then Manny tried to make fun of the Club’s engineers and comparing them to our guests from Engineers Without Borders.  For shame Manny, this reporter is confident that Mack Walker was quite the “stud”in his younger years, wooing people within the water world, and was at least a foot taller when he lived in Texas since everything is bigger in Texas.

Our speaker of the day was Dick BerryAndrew Yang was amazing as he was prepared for all circumstances – when Dick needed a mic stand, Andrew magically appeared, put the mic in a stand, and supported Dick.

As usual, Dick did an amazing job talking about the “Noble Experiment – Prohibition”.  This reporter always enjoys and learns from Dick’s talks.  Given this reporter’s lack of wit, knowledge or ability to write, this will conclude the report.
