Minutes of Georgetown Sunrise Rotary Hoops for Help Wrap-up

Minutes by John Barber

1. Create brochure from Duncan's photos.

2. Larry suggest that we schedule the game later to eliminate the Christmas

season

3. Herb Suggest we look into free advertisement on cable TV

4. Buzz suggests we look at Sun City publication where free ads could be

placed. We should also compile a list of free ad sources.

5. Jean asks that we go to Habitat for Humanity and ask for houses built and

get political people to support [us] (? Notes not clear. Please help.)

6. Duncan stated that we did not support the sponsors the way we promised.

7. Jeff said that there is a large potential support source like Herb's church.

Schools did not support u and was not very helpful. We should target youth

groups.

8. Herb suggests we should go to smaller churches to reach pastors and youth

groups.

9. Ralph said we should get to the scouts early. They are required to attend live

sporting events. They can also help spread the word.

10. Duncan suggests that the ticket prices should be higher.

11. Steve said that ROCK and Habitat should have been more involved. G to

board meetings of both organizations requesting help and participation

12. Jeff said that we need to reach the schools early for programs so that they can

budget their time.

13. Buzz said that we need to notify the Rotary hierarchy and let them know of

our event.

14. Herb suggested that we send email with poster attached to let friends know.

15. Jean suggests sponsoring a free throw competition well in advance to attract

attention.

16. Jeff suggests a launch party next year for prospective sponsors and show them

a video tape.

17. John suggested that we utilize the radio spots that are provided by the

Harlem Ambassadors by running PSAs on local radio.

18. Jean suggested we send tickets and invitations to area coaches.

19. David said we should give $500 scholarship to science and technology seniors

20. Buzz suggested $1,000 to Habitat. Several others responded that amount

was too low.

21. David suggested we table for now how much we will give to the various

groups and how much to retain.
