Taste of Teaneck THANK YOU to ALLA very special THANK YOU to all those that volunteered their time, their services, their products, their knowledge, efforts in ensuring that my LAST big event during my term which was my Taste of Teaneck was truly a success in EVERY way. From restaurants, to tricky trays, to sponsors, to entertainment, to the Interact Club, and to volunteers -- all was perfectly orchestrated. I truly appreciated all the attendees that made this a success, all my friends, colleagues, the board members that I am involved in, my networking groups, my Rotary District members, and others that showed up to support me and my club. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to my Chair Joel Goldin and Co-Chair Liz Santos for volunteering their time knowing the amount of work required along with managing the entire project to make this a great event. They have gone the EXTRA MILE, along with the support of my volunteers for the event committee and the Tricky Tray committee to make this successful. I hold dear to control and knowing I had experience, skilled, and a ready to work SOLID TEAM on board made it easy for me. Truly appreciate finishing my term with a GREAT EVENT and raised money to donate to my chosen charities for 2015-2016.
Truly THANK YOU.

Teaneck Rotary Welcomes Six New Members12/12/12 will be a date remembered by Kathleen Malavar, Tiffany Orbin, Bertha & Edmund Pendleton and Fernando Sosa. This was the date that they were inducted as the newest members of the Rotary Club of Teaneck. Officiating at this joyous occasion was immediate Past District Governor Emil Geering. On hand to say a few words on behalf of District Governor Bonnie Sirower was Assistant Governor Matt Libien. These new members will be carrying on a legacy that has existed since the Teaneck Club was chartered in 1929. PDG Geering presented the inductees with an overview of Rotary from the club level, the district level as well as the international level. He briefly discussed the history as well as the accomplishments for which Rotary is known. Rotary, PDG Geering explained the 4 way test: "Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?" and also shared with the new inductees the Five Avenues of Service: Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service and New Generations. A special treat not only for one of the newest members, but also for the current Teaneck membership was to see the Rotary spirit pass from one generation to the next. Emotional was Alicia Ruiz Orbin, past president (2006-2007) of the Allentown West Rotary Club (located in western Lehigh Valley) who came to Teaneck not only to participate in her daughter’s induction into the Rotary family but also to have the honor of pinning her daughter with the Rotary pin. Alicia Ruiz Orbin has been a Rotarian since 1988 and now her daughter will get to feel first-hand what it is like to be a Rotarian. The Rotary Club of Teaneck meets every Wednesday at 12 noon at Vitale’s, 293 Queen Anne Rd., Teaneck. All are welcome. Only cost is for lunch. Kosher meals can be provided with advance notice. If you would like additional information on the Rotary Club of Teaneck including membership, programs and events, please contact TeaneckRotary@gmail.com. |

September 19, Lunch: Guest of Honor District Governor
At last week's meeting we welcomed Bonnie Sirower, Governor District
7490. Bonnie discussed her vision for Rotary and our District with the key issues being food for the needy (with many more people needing food everyday in Bergen County than you would think) and increased membership. Bonnie commended the Teaneck club for our efforts in increasing our membership, pointing out that we tied for last year's prize for membership increase with the Paterson Club. She reminded us that we are eligible for a $500 grant for a local or international project. At the meeting Bonnie gave a special recognition to Rich Molinari for his 32 years of service to the Teaneck club. Bonnie also spoke about the need for all Rotarians to support the Rotary International Foundation. We welcomed three guests/potential new members; Dina Cvitan from FDU, Paul Flood from Bubble Dreams Laundromat and Kathleen Malaver of Allendale Community for Mature Living. Rich Molinari received the Silver Jubilee Club award. Congratulations to Rich! |

Installation of New MembersAugust 14, 2013 is another date that will be remembered by the Rotary Club for three good reasons - our best supporter for many years, Davis, Saperstein and Salomon, LLC, has formally joined us as the newest members of the Rotary Club of Teaneck. Danielle Richards, a renowned photographer right here in Teaneck has also taken the this wonderful step in joining our Rotary Club. And thirdly, our own Larry Bauer is now installed as Vice President a role that fits him like a glove. These new members will be carrying on a legacy that has existed since the Teaneck Club was chartered in 1929. PDG Ruff presented the inductees with an overview of Rotary from the club level, the district level as well as the international level. He briefly discussed the history as well as the accomplishments for which Rotary is known. Rotary, PDG Ruff shared with the new inductees the Five Avenues of Service: Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service and New Generations. To continue this great lunch, Helen Nylander, a Rotarian here in Teaneck and Sierra Leone has provided an extensive presentation on the progress of our solar-panel project. Helen spearheaded the school project to provide lighting for a girls’ boarding school in Sierra Leone. Please visit our facebook page for more photos of that day. |

Adult Brief Drive
Thank you to all that were able to participate on our drive on Sunday. Our seniors will appreciate all of the effort made. There are currently no programs that offer financial assistance to seniors in need of adult “briefs” or other incontinence products, making these necessities for independent living unattainable “luxury” items. Access to these items is a “basic human need” which allows senior adults to remain mobile, social and productive. Without them, many healthy older people are trapped in their homes, fearful of joining social functions, trips to libraries or the movies, or even attending their own grandchild’s wedding!
If you plan to attend our meeting this week and were not able to be there Sunday, you can still bring a donation of adult absorbent briefs to the meeting.
