CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS:
After calling the meeting to order, President Al Scala called on committee chairs to give their reports.
There was a moment of silence in memory of past president Tony Shakkour who passed away.
R.I has designated May 20th as Day of Service for eight districts. The Paterson Rotary Club will work for Habitat for Humanity as our service project on that day.
Joe Sterba presented a proposed amendment to the by-laws of the Paterson Rotary Club. A vote was taken. In order for the vote to pass, 75% of the members present will have voted “yes”. A majority voted “yes” with one against, and one abstention, therefore the amendment passed.
A copy of the amendment is attached to this newsletter for your file.
TODAY'S SPEAKER
This Meeting's Speaker:
Our speaker today is Brittany Boddie-Blackman
She is the creator and owner of Beyond The Classroom Shop. Her shop features educational supplies and toys for Homeschool, Teaching and Childcare. Brittany has been a science teacher for eight years, then the pandemic hit. Brittany helped kids learn at home, providing booklets and learning tools.
She continued that effort by selling learning tools in flea markets and other venues. That led to opening her own store in Paterson at 232 Vreeland Avenue around the corner from P.S. #20. Brittany finds her work both fulfilling and rewarding.
Her shop will be featured on news media in August.
