Membership is down club and district wide and President Bonnie is calling for new members. District is giving 2 free memberships out this year.
2 Champions of Peace have been nominated - Jada Fullmore from NJ ReEntry and Jennifer Ranu who works at the Great Falls as a visitor information person.
Our next Rotary lunch meeting will be Feb 8th. Robert Farber - task force update. Please be there at 12:15. $25 a person unless you've paid your dues, Then you get the first ten free.
TODAY'S SPEAKER
This Meeting's Speaker: District Gov. John Cosgrove
Jack DeStefano gave John's bio, which included Cosgrove's volunteerism with the Fairlawn Fire Department, Board of Directors for Bergen New Bridge and Mayor of Fairlawn. He has received a Life Time Achivement award and a CarePlus Courage award. Gov Murphy nominated Cosgrove for a seat of the Passaic Sewage Commission. His has his wife Mariann, three adult children and three grand child.
John thanked the room and pointed out Rotarians in the room that have helped him during his year as Gov - 67th District Gov for 7490. Some programs he wants to highlight is Stigma Free. The District partnered with Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for a monthly program on things ranging from anxiety , depression, adolescent behavioral health, etc. The District is going to Fort Lee this Sat for another seminar. All are welcome to join.
Cosgrove also reminded us that our percentage of giving in the district is very low. He left cards for each of us to donate. The District sees that money in three years from now. There is also a way on the card to donate to Polio Plus. Rotarian Phil Wilson has helped us get the word out about Polio Plus.
Gift of Life trip in Ukraine - Cosgrove touched on that trip and how much it meant that our district was represented. Art founded the program - he spoke of Art helped Oswen from Holdurous who needed 9 hours of surgery. 1700 life saving surgeries have been performed by our district.
Friends and Family program has been reinstated. "Grow District 7490." Two free members will be asked to join from each club.
Cosgrove is coming up with a checklist alongside with his accountant to assist the Clubs with their foundation and non profit status.
Military assistance food pantry is a big project that the district assists with. He asks we do a food drive for the pantry to assist the Veterans in Passaic County with their food insecurity. Then John ended with questions from the room.

Call for Gift Of Life Donation
We are seeking donations for Gift of Life - our goal is to raise $1300 to go along with the $1700 donation that the Susani family has made on behalf of their niece. Then we can sponsor a child as soon as we have $3000 total. Please click here to donate online
The Great Falls Pantry - requesting donations of Non-Perishable foods.
With almost 27,000 military veterans living in Paterson alone, many of them living under tight financial constraints, this pantry was just what they needed.
Located at 160 Ward Street in Paterson, NJ, the pantry will be open the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9-11 am. Veterans will need to bring proof of service and a tax return in order to shop. Currently, the pantry holds a variety of dry goods and the organizers plan to hold fundraisers in the future to continue to keep the pantry stocked for our vets!
