Announcements
Bonnie Miele reports that the second annual “Popcorn Fundraiser” will take place on October 4th thru October 8. Monies raised will go for incidentals for our Gift of Life child when we are next in line for one. John and Dale Susani will be the host family.

Roberta Farber, chair of the Cookbook fundraiser, is busy with her committee editing the book. We have about 170 recipes to date. The deadline to submit your favorite recipe is October 10. The cook book will be available for sale in November to be ready for cooking, baking, and gift giving for Christmas and the Holidays! Thank you to all who submitted recipes!

October 29th will be “Trunk or Treat” see Bonnie to join in to help with this.

On November 16th the Paterson Rotary Club will be meeting at the Barrow House. Our Board meeting that evening will take place there as well. In order for Paterson Rotary to get credit for all who attend, attendees must mention Paterson Rotary upon entering.

Bonnie Miele reports that on November 3rd, Veterans will be invited to our luncheon to honor them for Veteran’s Day. Each member is asked to sponsor one Veteran for lunch and sit with them.

We will also be collecting 21 bags of food including turkeys for the 21 disabled and homeless Veterans and their families who reside in the Veteran housing complex on East 18th Street in Paterson. Our club is proud to sponsor these efforts for our Veterans and thanks to our Paterson Rotarian’s generosity our Military project continues!

Guests for Publication:

We welcome Ginny Staube and Donna Perino as our guests this week!

        EVA’S VILLAGE AND EVA’S KITCHEN
Guest Speaker – Director Laura Bloem

Eva’s Kitchen was founded in 1982 by Monsignor Vincent Puma. It was set up to feed the homeless and the hungry in Paterson.

Today the mission has expanded, Eva’s Village mission is to feed the hungry, serve the homeless and treat the addicted. Laura tells us that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

The programs include serving breakfast and lunch in the state of the art kitchen and lunchroom by volunteers.  A halfway house program to help with resumes and finding jobs for men, women and one for women with young children; A program that provides emergency sheltering and outpatient programs.

Volunteers bring food to the 4th Ward in Paterson to connect with addicted folks. Volunteers are always needed to serve the meals, if you are interested in volunteering you are invited to call (973) 523-6220 and ask for the Volunteer Coordinator. I can tell you from experience it is a gratifying and rewarding experience.
