Our next Rotary lunch meeting will be July 25th. Please be there at 12:15. Paterson Council Member will be speaking. $25 a person unless you've paid your dues, Then you get the first ten free.
Club Assembly - Walter D. Head Award
Walter D. Head Award - Tony Vancheri
Walter D Head – presented by John Susani – Tony Van Cheri –
Tony Van Cheri arrived in 1953 from Belgium. He attended School 5 and JFK High School. In 1968, he was drafted into the US Army, trained in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and served in Vietnam. In 1970, he returned home to Paterson and married Ann Marie. He retired in 2007 from the Paterson Parks Department. Tony has worked tirelessly to secure almost $840k in grants and was instrumental in creating the Veterans Memorial Park on McBride Avenue.
Tony was taken by surprise – he thought he was attending John's installation and was very surprised and honored to receive the award. He says it means more to him than any politician's plaque because it is given by a group of Rotarians who are unsung heroes.
Bonnie spoke of this being her last official meeting and has some thank yous she wants to give:
Bonnie Sirower – She is a past District Governor and was instrumental in getting President Bonnie involved in Drum Circle.
Cindy Randina – She will be our Governor next year, and Bonnie thanks Cindy for her help in youth services.
PDG John Cosgrove – John was more than just a Governor; he became a friend and a big help to Bonnie.
Sandra Bosque – She made a great sacrifice this year by volunteering in Ukraine and helped Bonnie with her year as President.
Forrest Elliot – Bonnie gave him a pin and called him an unsung hero for his work with veterans.
Cy Yannerelli – Bonnie wants to thank Cy. He has a diaper donation drive in August for a home that is run for special needs young people who have been abandoned by their families.
Bonnie also had flowers for Karen, Joelle's mother, and First Lady Dale Susani.
Vince, Karen, Dan, Erika, John, and Roberta were all sworn into their positions.
John's Notes:
John was inducted by John Cosgrove. He expressed gratitude to Bonnie for her service and emphasized the importance of attendance to ensure the club meets its food minimum. John also discussed the Rotary Zone that we are merging into, stressing the importance of unity. He has set a goal to increase membership, as he did during his time as District Governor. Additionally, he aims to establish a Rotaract club at Passaic Community College and wants our club to increase involvement with Interact this year.
Over the past 18 months, we have been fortunate to host three Gift of Life children at our club. John encouraged everyone to step up and volunteer for more opportunities.

We are honoring John Cosgrove at our Tricky Tray and Beefsteak - we are looking for donations and to sell tables. Dan also asked for volunteers to help the night of the event.
Jackie took a moment to speak on behalf of her family and son on GOL -
Jackie does not want to go back to Honduras yet. Before she leaves, she wants to express her heartfelt gratitude. She thanks us sincerely for the attention and care she has received. She believes God knows all the details and has blessed her with more than she asked for: to be in this wonderful, beautiful place with such marvelous people. She believes the world needs more people like all of us and thanks us for saving lives.
Her son, upon leaving the hospital, Joel said, "Mother, I feel like I'm brand new!" This, she believes, only God could have provided with the Gift of Life and the support of Rotarians. Her family appreciates everything. They plan to return in three years for Joel's surgery to remove the bars from his body. Jackie carries all of us in her heart and hopes to see all of us again in three years. She loves us all and prays that God grants us more than we ask for.
Call for Gift Of Life Donation
We are seeking donations for Gift of Life - our goal is to raise $1300 to go along with the $1700 donation that the Susani family has made on behalf of their niece. Then we can sponsor a child as soon as we have $3000 total. Please click here to donate online
The Great Falls Pantry - requesting donations of Non-Perishable foods.
With almost 27,000 military veterans living in Paterson alone, many of them living under tight financial constraints, this pantry was just what they needed.
Located at 160 Ward Street in Paterson, NJ, the pantry will be open the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9-11 am. Veterans will need to bring proof of service and a tax return in order to shop. Currently, the pantry holds a variety of dry goods and the organizers plan to hold fundraisers in the future to continue to keep the pantry stocked for our vets!
