Downtown Rotary has an Opportunity for International Service

Our Rotary Club’s Board has endorsed an international clean water project in Central America, most likely in El Salvador.  Club members, their spouses or others can join a hands-on work-service team for a one week trip to assist in the drilling of our well, piping clean water, providing sanitary education, and dedicating the plaque for the well.  Work opportunities are available for all adult ages, so no-one is too old to go.

Tentative Dates are November 12-18 or December 10-16.  We need at least 5 members on our team and can have as many as 12.  To date, four individuals have expressed interest in going, so we need additional folks to join the team.

El Salvador is a small country the size of Massachusetts with a population of over 6 million.  Over 400,000 individuals living in rural areas of El Salvador are without running water.  Only half of the sewage in the country is processed and environmental regulations are nearly non-existent, so our help is needed in providing clean water.

Our club is partnering with Living Water International on the project and for a tax deductible fee of $1950 you will be provided with airfare, lodging, transportation, food, interpreters, health information and security for the trip.  We will stay in hotels near the well project.

See Ross Hodel or Bill Kempiners if you are interested in this service opportunity.
