Susan Posterro, Director of Binkeez for Comfort, a nonprofit 501c3 organization located in Grafton, addressed this weeks meeting to explain Binkeez’s mission of providing blankets to children and adults in hospitals and hospice services. It was very clear that this 3rd generation “giver’ was passionate about what Binkeez does to help others. Susan noted that over 2000 blankets have been delivered so far this year to kids in 48 out of 50 states in America. Each blanket provides “unique comfort” and is customized with the recipients name on the blanket. Donors can select from a wide variety of patterns, named after prior recipients. The company employers 20 people and with the effective use of many volunteers, including 10 that sew, Binkeez operates on less than 1% of all donations. The other 99% of donations is used to deliver “Binkeez Love”. Susan shared the fact that research shows that a warm comfortable personal blanket provides a lot of comfort for patients of all ages during their challenging times.

“Binkeez for Comfort ("BFC") makes and delivers blankets and other items with the intention of bringing comfort to individuals experiencing health issues, particularly children in hospitals and hospice facilities in the United States of America. These blankets (and other items) are either delivered in person or through the mail based upon the request of the recipient (or recipient's caregivers). Blankets are made primarily by the BFC volunteer base. Making and delivering blankets is the primary focus of BFC. BFC is funded through personal donations, fundraising activities and grants. Donations made to Binkeez for Comfort are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.” Personalized Children blankets (36” x 60”) can be sponsored for only  $45. Adult blankets (72’ x60’) cost $100. Blankets are machine washable and tumble dry.

Posterro noted that “Binkeez is more than just a blanket. It’s about providing everlasting moments of comfort.
It’s about endless hugs.
It’s about an unconditional extension of love from one heart to another.
It’s about hundreds yards of fabrics for hundreds of hearts.

Rotarians were very impressed with the quality of the blankets and the overall softness as well as the goals and objectives of Binkeez and their desire to “make the world a better place”.
