Justin's first hospital visit

It was a 7AM breakfast, and may make a couple of inspections this morning. I will be back to take Dulce and Justin to the hospital for his pre-op examination.  Arlene will be going with us.  Justin has a little cold; that's because he is little?  I will fill you in on the baby's condition. He is diagnosed as having a condition called Tetralogy of Fallot.  It is a severe congenital heart defect, which is life threatening. Mom told me when he was first diagnosed he was given 7 months.  He also suffers from Downs Syndrome. Mom told me the doctors in Honduras did not discover his condition for months and that it was a birth defect.

I sent my daily message to Bob to forward to everyone.  He called me and asked if he could edit it. I said yes.  I'm glad I did let him do it.  Now, I know what I wrote.

Just talked to Mat and he reminded me of his YCS walk and asked if Justin would like to go.  I said he has a little cold (remember little cold, little baby?).

We just returned from the hospital. The doctors were unable to get enough information, as Justin would not lie still long enough to get good pictures.  He has to return next Friday.  He will have to be sedated to get the results.  Then we will be given a date for his operation.

This bit of information should make you all feel good.  Justin has been with us since the 15th.  He never attempted to crawl or walk; the only thing he did was sit up on his own.  We arrived on the 4th floor at the hospital and checked in. A few minutes after we were sitting and talking, Dulce took Justin over to a wood school bus, size about 4x4. Justin was standing, walking, and smiling.  While he was standing there a pretty little girl his size was playing by the school bus.  Within two minutes they had kissed each other.  I got a good picture of them.  It was so cute.  That never happened to me!

Although we did not get a date for the operation, Dulce really liked the hospital, doctors, and nurses. When she found out that she will be able to stay in the same room with Justin while he is in the hospital she was very happy.

Rubin and Beverly Rivera dropped in to meet Dulce and Justin.  They are the coordinators for the Honduran children.  They stayed quite a while.

By the way, try and make the meeting this Tuesday, since Justin is not being operated on, he wants to try some of Sally's cooking.  See you all Tuesday.

Yours in Rotary,
