The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn recently had two interesting speakers at our meetings.  Ellen Elias, Director of The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources enlightened Club Members about services available needing treatment for addictions in the youth in our community.  The Center is located in Hackensack and is a program of Children’s Aid and Family Services.  Director Elias had a unique interactive presentation for members to take part of while learning more about this important subject and ways to keep kids healthy and safe.  For more information on The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources, contact them at either 201-488-8680 or on the web at www.tcadr.org.

Our other recent speaker was Michael R. Dressler, Esq., Bergen County Surrogate, Mr. Dressler is Judge of the Surrogate’s Court of Bergen County.  Judge Dressler explained the many duties of the Surrogate’s Court, including the probating of Wills, appointing of estate administrators, supervising the appointment of guardians and administering adoptions.  The duties of this important office are more involved than one would think and Mr. Dressler provided excellent information about his office to members of the club.  He also gave information on the importance of the proper preparation of a Will and case-studies of incidents of what happens when a Will is not prepared.  The Surrogate’s Court is located at the Bergen County Justice Center, Room 211, 10 Main St., Hackensack, NJ 07601 and can be reached at 201-646-2252 or at www.co.bergen.nj.us/surrogate/Index.htm.
