The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn thanks you for your interest in our Club.  We hope that you take a few moments to explore our website to learn more about Rotary in your community and around the world. 

Rotary International was first organized in Chicago on February 23, 1905.  Paul P. Harris, a young lawyer and three of his friends started this first club.  These four founding members wished to recapture the friendly spirit they felt as businessmen in the small towns in which they previously lived. 

This spirit of camaraderie that has kept Rotary thriving for over 100 years.  Rotary is both an opportunity to build lifelong friendships and to experience the personal satisfaction of giving back to the community where you live and work.  The Rotary motto is "Service Above Self". It is the world's first service organization composed of business and professional leaders.  Rotary provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and builds goodwill and peace in the world.  Rotarians come from a variety of business, occupational and professional backgrounds.  This combination of knowledge makes Rotary a strong international, national and local center of service.  Rotarians have worked worldwide to eliminate Polio, reduce malaria and bring fresh water to people who have no way to obtain this vital life sustaining substance.  These projects are just part of a very large list as to how Rotarians around the world are united in making our global home a better place for all.

Locally, the Fair Lawn Rotary Club was organized on August 2, 1948.  The Fair Lawn Rotary Club, like all of the 36,000+ Clubs organized in 200 Countries around the world, was established to provide services, initiate projects, donate goods, offer material and generally to lend a hand to people in need.  Since the inauguration of our Club in 1948, literally hundreds of projects have been completed to benefit the Fair Lawn Community.  Some of these projects include donation of a pergola at the Fair Lawn High School, creation of "Rotary Grove" at Memorial Park which includes several benches and chess tables for the public to enjoy, donation of the Rotating Globe and park bench at the Maurice Pine Library, donation of the large bulletin boards at the Fair Lawn Municipal Building and the Fair Lawn High School, donations to the Fair Lawn Health Center, donation of a van and new elevator to the Opportunity Center, donations of dictionaries to third graders in Fair Lawn and St. Anne's schools, scholarships to FLHS students continuing their education and donations to the FLHS marching band.

In order to continue these good works year after year, the Fair Lawn Rotary Club works hard to raise funds for these local and international community and charitable purposes.  In order to maintain our position as a leader in volunteering for the Community, our Club holds several annual fundraisers that are highly enjoyable events eagerly looked forward to by the residents of Fair Lawn and surrounding towns. We hold a Beefsteak/Tricky Tray, a Spaghetti Dinner (co-hosted with the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary Club), a Rotary Golf Outing, a Pancake Breakfast, the Pedals for Progress bike collection and two 50/50 Raffles.  We are always looking for new ideas on how to raise funds to help our Community.

Through this Website, it is hoped that you will gain an understanding of the fine work performed by the Rotary Club of Fair Lawn during the past six decades and how the tradition of Service to the Community, will continue for decades to come.

Membership in The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn is open to all person that work and/or live in Fair Lawn as well as the surrounding communities of Saddle Brook and Glen Rock.
