Donations In Kind
Donations in Kind (DIK) is a Rotary organization that operates under umbrella of RAWCS and was established in 1962.[2][10] Its purpose is to collect valuable and usable goods and consumables no longer required in the Australian health and education institutions and distribute them to developing nations and other areas of need. By facilitating the repurposing of discarded useful equipment, it reduces waste and increases the material well-being of developing nations and other areas of need.

Club members once again attended the Donations In Kind SA headquarters & warehouse in Edinburgh for a working bee. 11 members/partners and 1 Retractor provided a combined 36 volunteer hours working to organise goods for eventual distribution overseas to needy communities. Activities included: - Servicing re-purposed sewing machines. These will be used for micro-finance projects, enabling primarily women to generate income.
- Sorting and cataloguing children's books, assisting in childhood education.
- Provision of surplus medical equipment from a local West Lakes General Practitioner.
- Stacking hospital beds in readiness for shipping overseas to needy communities.
- Stripping electric motors from chairs for re-use. After the working bee, attendees gathered for a "debrief" lunch at the Slug'n'Lettuce
