What's NEW at Rotary under COVID-19

Update on what's doing at the
_________________________________________________________________

Having been isolated at home for a good bit of time now, life is settling down somewhat.
We're even getting excited about the lockdowns being reduced a bit sooner than later!
Now we have Recovery Step 1 being implemented Monday 11 May which should make us a bit happier.

We still need to make a few calls out to those who might need the connection, and after that,
we can tackle a bit of fishing, the odd game of golf, gardening or some of those little home
maintenance jobs which have been on the back burner for quite a while!

Meanwhile our Club have been using meetings via our own Zoom Platform to manage business.
Please refer below for the calendar of meetings we have scheduled to end of this Rotary Year
They are also listed as 'events' on our website calendar,on the LHS of the front page.

So far, we have had two successful board meetings and two combined committee meetings.
Some people have attended District organised zoom meetings which have been interesting and fun.

This week we had Committee meetings on both Tuesday (5th) and Thursday (7th) evenings.
We encourage you all to participate in future, relax and don't feel self-conscious about it.

PLEASE NOTE: I am happy to give some operational pointers to anyone who wants it any time.
Maybe at a prearranged time on the day prior to your meeting, to make you feel more confident.
Please phone me on 0427 618 997 to make some arrangement.

Each list of committee members will continue to receive an invitation via email a few days before.
This includes the login link and basic information for the zoom meeting.
(I must apologise for now, but to date I have not been able to get the invites through
Outlook and Google calendars for you, but hopefully some determination will correct that soon.)

Remember we all have to "learn to crawl before we can walk", so we all need to have some
patience while we become used to a new technical and remote means of keeping
us all connected, and our club connected to the community as well.

Please have a read of the Zoom meeting Etiquette document attached below.

Sooner or later, especially if we remain under this type of home isolation, we will need to try a
general club meeting and make sure we involve a very good guest speaker or
perhaps a member could do an interesting 'Know your Member' presentation?

A small reminder that you do NOT need to load any Zoom apps onto your device viz,
Desktop computer, Laptop, i-pad, Tablet or Smartphone in order to join the meetings.

SUGGESTION: Log on to the District 9500 website via our own website
and look for "ZOOM Guides and Support."on the LHS of their front page.

Club data for RDU Magazine and Zoom platform
A big thanks from me to all the members who have recently responded
with the details requested for RDU Magazine's delivery by printed or digital format
and for the details regarding the Zoom platform via which the club is able to manage
their business via committees and the board.

I was able to update all the members' data for RDU on their DataBase, and
double check members' other details at the same time, so they know what to
bill us from 1 July 2020, and how you wanted to receive the
RDU Magazine each month.
The digital option is about $6.00 cheaper than printed, saving you and the club money
and doesn't involve consuming any trees!
We now have 8 members receiving printed versions by post and 30 digital versions via email.
an opposite situation to that in the past!

We have a significant uptake, or at least agreement, of Zoom participation by our membership.
26 have shown interest in participation, and 12 not much interest, for one reason or another.
Ratios for Admin & Membership Committee 15/5 and Projects & Youth  Committee 11/7.

Once again thanks very much for your overall response,
 DJ
