I think ,as a club, we need to help with the BBQ on Wednesday the 10th of October.
Individual Rotarians may like to be involved in the other activities. Please make an offer.
Is there someone who can manage the BBQ for instance?

Good afternoon lovely Rotarians!
I have had a few meetings with community members to get the ball rolling for Mental Health Week.
Plans so far are:
Saturday 6th Oct- Open Men's Wellness Campaign at 6pm, Rotary Gallery at the Nautilus Arts Centre. ALL INVITED TO ATTEND!
Wednesday 10th Oct- Family Day- If possible, we would love your help with a BBQ. Port Lincoln Foreshore 10am-2pm- Sausage Sizzle. We were thinking gold coin donation for sausage in bread. What do you think? How do you usually source snags and bread when you usually do BBQ's? Do you have a food number that you give the council when they ask for paperwork?!
Thursday 11th from 12pm and Friday 12th from 10am set up Gala Ball in Tumby- volunteers and gala ball committee. If possible we would like help with setting up the Gala Ball. I will be able to give you more details about this soon.
Saturday 13th Oct- Gala Ball at Tumby. ALL INVITED TO ATTEND!
If you would like to have a chat and let us know, that would be fabulous.
THANK YOU!!
Also, while I am emailing, would anyone be available for the Cleve Field Days to sit at our Pavilion site with some of the Mens Wellness Campaign? The site will just be a little relaxed area to come look at photos and have a cuppa if people want to. You don't have to be knowledgeable in anything!! haha!! You all know about what Mentally Fit EP do anyway!
The times would be:
Tuesday 14th August- 2.15pm-4pm
Wednesday 15th August- 10am-11.30am
Thursday 16th August- any time? DJ I have you down for Thursday- will confirm the time when I see how many helpers are available. Mick Traeger said he could help on Thursday too.
Is anyone willing to coordinate cooking a bbq for this event? Please let me know asap. Dave
Hi David, following on from our phone conversation, please see below re details for the community event
DATE: Wednesday 31st October
TIME: 10.00am - 2.00pm
LOCATION: 21 Washington Street (Opposite the Kowloon Kitchen)
Celebration of Aboriginal Family Support Services 40th birthday and official opening of new offices.
Other attractions on day: bouncy castle, drumming ladies, Magic FM, large mural being painted by local artist Susie Betts, information stalls, Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony of new office site…this is just a few of the activities. The actual event will take place in the carpark area next to our new office. We are approaching council to have the area cordoned off for the event and have approached the local surrounding businesses and they have also indicated their support for the event.
As discussed, if Rotary agree to proceed with being involved, AFSS will make a donation to Rotary.
We didn't do this one last year, and we will not have the Teakle Autosprint as a fundraiser in 2019, so it may be a good opportunity to do this one again to raise some funds for club projects.
Several Rotarians have run this in the past and they would be happy to show any willing members the ropes, If you haven't been involved before.
We need to get our order in promptly so we can organise the tickets and the selling process
A quick reminder to book for this important upcoming workshop.
A Workshop for Eyre Peninsula: Bringing together Community Service Organisations and Emergency Management Organisations in a local context “Is the Eyre Peninsula Disaster Ready?”
Red Cross is holding a workshop for organisations within the Eyre Peninsula area to start conversations on how we can work together to be more prepared for and respond to emergencies.
As we know emergencies, from bushfires and storms, to industrial accidents or loss of critical infrastructure, cause disruption. More often than not, it’s the people living with existing challenges who are hardest hit by emergencies and have the longest journey to recovery. “Experience tells us that community service organisations– organisations who support people to lead independent and fulfilling lives – make major contributions to how our communities prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies”.
Therefore, Red Cross is facilitating an important workshop in partnership with the CFS, MFS, SAPOL, SES, SA Ambulance, and local Councils, with the goals of:
Improving how organisations prepare for emergencies
Identifying opportunities to build resilience of clients and customers
Strengthening collaboration between community service and emergency management organisations.
We would like to invite personnel from organisations who support others….. Schools (both Primary and High School), Childcare, Disability, Aged care, Churches, Retirement Villages, Housing providers, Op Shops, Health providers, Carers, Service Clubs …. to join her and local emergency management agencies. These workshops are being held around South Australia and the Eyre Peninsula has been chosen as one location to support.
When: Thursday August 2nd, 2018
Location: Lock Football Clubrooms,
North Terrace, Lock
Time: Starting at 9:30am and finishing by 3pm (Morning tea and light lunch provided)
We welcome all organisations to these important conversations about supporting others in emergencies and having a better understanding of what we can all do to be better prepared. If you would like to invite any other organisation you believe would benefit from this event, please pass on this email and my details.
Also please find attached an Agenda for the day.

Please pass on my congratulations to Rotarian John Myers for his PHF - what an awesome choice - but amongst such a great group this is a true honour.
Very sad presidents report to reflect on those who made me feel so welcome in the club, who passed during the year. My deepest thoughts and respects to them all.
Hope to come back to Port Drinken soon - been far too long!!
