Last ROMAC Touchdown event for D9500 Posted by David Johnston on Sep 02, 2018       ROMAC Rotary Touchdown event was a great success last Tuesday evening.     A pretty good fundraiser for ROMAC with lots of fun.      Held in the Beer Garden Brewery, an amazing venue, we all had chance to chat with Mark Holden,     listen to some support music from Nick Kreig and  Lee Gunness in the beginning,     and try out some of the local brews over some very nice finger food.     After that Mark held our attention with many historical stories of himself his family, circus associations,            and of course his easy presentation of some of his golden oldies.     All this interspersed with raffles to raise some extra cash for ROMAC.     Can't really forget "The Pink Carnation"!!   Refer "Read More" for some pics   Read more... Drought Assistance for  Local EP Farmers  Posted by David Johnston on Aug 26, 2018   A few weeks ago we detailed Rotary Australia supporting the NFF and Channel 9 in their Drought Relief Program in the eBULLETIN, CURRENTLY via support from Mentally Fit EP and EPIC Grain, there is a very important local program to look after farmers in our own backyard!   Mentally Fit EP     August 9 at 2:18 PM · CAN YOU HELP AN Eyre Peninsula FARMER? OR ARE YOU AN Eyre Peninsula FARMER IN NEED OF A BIT OF HELP? As many of you are already aware, Mentally Fit EP have teamed up with EPIC Grain Brokers with a focus on easing the burden on our Eyre Peninsula farmers.   CAN YOU HELP? Are you able to offer any land agistment on the EP? Are you able to bale any straw after harvest? Do you have any left-over hay? Are you able to donate money towards funding a bale of feed for stock? Do YOU need assistance for your own farm? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, please get in contact with us. Steve 'Willo' Whillas, of EPIC Grain Brokers travels all over the Eyre Peninsula constantly  and works closely with our farmers, as well as in concert with the Rotary Men's Wellness Campaign (and other engagements), Mentally Fit EP are also travelling km's across the Eyre Peninsula.   We are more than aware of the worry for many farmers, and farming families, in our region. To date we have a list of amazing people who have donated or offered to donate feed.          If you have something you can donate, please contact Willo on 0458 852 268. Bank details are also finalised and ready to receive any monetary donations. These donations will go towards purchasing feed and baling and freight costs. Neither Mentally Fit EP or EPIC Grain Brokers will be taking any profits. 100% will be distributed locally on the EP. All donations and allocations, are being recorded to keep track, and for transparency.  Donations will go towards supporting EP farmers doing it tough. There won’t be admin fees, nor will farmers be waiting months on end for assistance. Kind Regards, Anti Poverty Week Lunch 18 Oct 11.30 to 1.30 Posted by David Johnston on Aug 26, 2018   Hi President David, Following up from our phone call the other day.   Red Cross will be hosting an event for Anti-poverty Week on Thursday 18th October Like last year we will be service a free lunch (chicken stir fry) to community from  approximately 11:30 -1:30 (We revised hours as feedback suggested that last year was too long at 11-2)   Could you please discuss with your members and confirm their availability of the BBQ, 2 x Bendigo Bank Marquees (Red Cross to contact BB) and any volunteers for this community event as soon as possible.     Regards, Diane Graham Red Cross - Community Development Officer 20 Edinburgh Street PORT LINCOLN SA 5606 Aboriginal Family Support Services 40th birthday Posted by Dave Gillies on Aug 26, 2018 Aboriginal Family Support Services 40th birthday   Is anyone willing to coordinate cooking a bbq for this event?  Please let me know asap.  Dave   Hi David, following on from our phone conversation, please see below re details for the community event   DATE: Wednesday 31st October TIME: 10.00am - 2.00pm LOCATION: 21 Washington Street (Opposite the Kowloon Kitchen)   Celebration of Aboriginal Family Support Services 40th birthday and official opening of new offices.   Other attractions on day: bouncy castle, drumming ladies, Magic FM, large mural being painted by local artist Susie Betts, information stalls, Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony of new office site…this is just a few of the activities.   The actual event will take place in the car park area next to our new office. We are approaching council to have the area cordoned off for the event and have approached the local surrounding businesses and they have also indicated their support for the event. As discussed, if Rotary agree to proceed with being involved, AFSS will make a donation to Rotary. I look forward to hearing back from you.
