Rotary Men's Wellness Campaign Cleve - ELL - STB
ROTARY MEN'S WELLNESS CAMPAIGN
The Cleve Field Day's exhibition was a great success, combining with Mentally fit EP.
Our Campaign got plenty of press, TV and social media coverage, and
especially the combo of Mentally Fit EP and EPIC Grain's program to assist local
drought affected farmers. ("in our own backyard" on Eyre Peninsula.)
We even have the Rotary Club of Whyalla come on board, helping with this particular program.

Here is an extract from the Stock Journal this week and a couple of pics from the Field Days.

West Coast Youth and Community Support chief executive officer Jo Clark said Mentally Fit EP had been running

for the past four years and is supported by donations from the community and Bendigo Bank.

“The main driver behind it was mental wellness and service availability in country areas,” she said.

“The most important part is that it’s local people supporting local people.

“We work with communities to make sure when we’re delivering services or programs,

it’s not at the busy times like harvest or seeding.”

A recent Mentally Fit EP project is the "Rotary Men’s Wellness Campaign".

“We put a call out to men on the EP interested in being ambassadors for mental fitness,” she said.

“In two days, 35 men aged from 18 to 80 replied, from just about every community on the EP.

“The campaign provides a message of hope about things that men can do to maintain mental fitness.”

The campaign features a photographic exhibition of men from a range of backgrounds,

detailing what they do to maintain mental fitness.

While travelling with the exhibition, Ms Clark saw first-hand how difficult it is in many communities at this moment,

so she said it made sense to team up with EPIC on the fundraiser.

“We know families and small businesses are going to find it difficult in the next 12 months,

and we felt we needed to do something to support them,” she said.

Drought Assistance for  Local EP Farmers

The week before last we detailed Rotary Australia supporting the NFF and Channel 9
in their Drought Relief Program in the eBULLETIN,
NOW via support from Mentally Fit EP and EPIC Grain, there is
a very important local program to look after farmers in our own backyard!

CAN YOU HELP AN Eyre Peninsula FARMER?
OR ARE YOU AN Eyre Peninsula FARMER IN NEED OF A BIT OF HELP?
As many of you are already aware, Mentally Fit EP have teamed up with EPIC Grain Brokers
with a focus on easing the burden on our Eyre Peninsula farmers.

CAN YOU HELP?
  • Are you able to offer any land agistment on the EP?
  • Are you able to bale any straw after harvest?
  • Do you have any left-over hay?
  • Are you able to donate money towards funding a bale of feed for stock?
  • Do YOU need assistance for your own farm?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, please get in contact with us.
Steve 'Willo' Whillas, of EPIC Grain Brokers travels all over the Eyre Peninsula constantly
and works closely with our farmers, as well as in concert with the Rotary Men's Wellness Campaign
(and other engagements), Mentally Fit EP are also travelling km's across the Eyre Peninsula.

We are more than aware of the worry for many farmers, and farming families, in our region.
To date we have a list of amazing people who have donated or offered to donate feed.
If you have something you can donate, please contact Willo on 0458 852 268.
Bank details are also finalised and ready to receive any monetary donations.
These donations will go towards purchasing feed and baling and freight costs.
Neither Mentally Fit EP or EPIC Grain Brokers will be taking any profits.
100% will be distributed locally on the EP.
All donations and allocations, are being recorded to keep track, and for transparency.
Donations will go towards supporting EP farmers doing it tough. There won’t be admin fees,
nor will farmers be waiting months on end for assistance.
Willo is ‘on the ground’ and we’ll do our best to ensure the wellbeing of our awesome EP community.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE OR WILL BE DONATING!

Mental Health Week Activities

A few activities to put in our diaries.
I think ,as a club, we need to help with the BBQ on Wednesday the 10th of October.
Individual Rotarians may like to be involved in the other activities. Please make an offer.

Is there someone who can manage the BBQ for instance?

From Mentally Fit EP
Good afternoon lovely Rotarians!
I have had a few meetings with community members to get the ball rolling for Mental Health Week.
Plans so far are as detailed by Lain Montgomery below:

  • Saturday 6th Oct- Open Men's Wellness Campaign at 6pm, Rotary Gallery at the Nautilus Arts Centre. ALL INVITED TO ATTEND!
  • Wednesday 10th Oct- Family Day- If possible, we would love your help with a BBQ. Port Lincoln Foreshore 10am-2pm- Sausage Sizzle. We were thinking gold coin donation for sausage in bread. What do you think? How do you usually source snags and bread when you usually do BBQ's? Do you have a food number that you give the council when they ask for paperwork?!
  • Thursday 11th from 12pm and Friday 12th from 10am set up Gala Ball in Tumby- volunteers and gala ball committee. If possible we would like help with setting up the Gala Ball. I will be able to give you more details about this soon.
  • Saturday 13th Oct- Gala Ball at Tumby. ALL INVITED TO ATTEND!
If you would like to have a chat and let us know, that would be fabulous.
THANK YOU!!
Kind Regards,
