Budding Parliamentarian
South Australian Youth Parliament 2017

Recently Grace Franco was sponsored by our Club to attend a week of sessions as a member of the Youth Parliament in Adelaide.
She gave a very interesting presentation to the members last week, at very short notice.
It was very evident that Grace has matured into a fine young lady full of confidence and plenty of wit.
The cohort of fellow participants was generally older than her with, some participating for a second and third time.
Grace had acquitted herself very well and took on Deputy Leadership of the Government in the Legislative Council, and was sponsor of a bill presented, on which she gave us some detail. Grace also made it into the final four to be the Youth Governor, next time round.

This week's Rotary meeting
This week at Rotary

This week at Rotary we have Bill Broughton & Colin Gill with an update on the Mens shed.

Next week at Rotary (22 August)
Next week we have a group of eight who are participating in the 60th Anniversary Re-enactment of the Tail End Charlie-The Tractor’ of 1957 Mobilgas Round Australia Rally in a replica 1955 Model 6G Champion Tractor.

They are raising awareness and funds, for The Prostate Cancer Foundation and Breast Care Network Australia.
It is envisaged that some 15,000 klms will be travelled and it is intended to take 57 days to complete the journey.
This is a far cry from the original 1957 Rally when 11,140 miles (18,000 kms) were covered in 19 days.
Please invite any people you think might be interested and register them on clubrunner or let me know.

Hi All,

Great news from last night’s Council meeting. I have already spoken with Nigel and was at a meeting this am with the Mayor , both are enthusiastic with the project.
Dave may I suggest that Ian, Jim and myself continue as the Rotary reps on this project.
I will be processing the grant application to the Community Bank for a matching grant of $10K.
Will keep you in the loop.

Regards  Mike

2017 Melbourne Cup Trifecta Tickets

Fund raising Project - Coordinator required.

We need a coordinator to run the 2017 Melbourne Cup Trifecta Ticket sales between August and end of October.
The Cup is run on Tuesday 7th November.

The Club needs to purchase one set of 2024 tickets, ready to fold and staple ready for sale, as soon as possible.
The logistics of setting up and selling is not a difficult task, considering that we sold twice this amount last year without too much hassle.
(Only trouble with twice as many was that we tended to be in the public's face quite frequently, and for a long time leading up to the Cup date.)
I would gladly run it again,  but I have too many other things to be going on with this year!

I am happy to pass on all the information I have on file to ensure the logistics run as smooth as possible with a minimum of stress on the coordinator or enlisted volunteers.
I have attached the current Information sheet from the Rotary Club of Crows Nest in Sydney, and an order form, so if you want to, you can get a head start with ordering. They will send you an invoice for your order, but at least you will be off the mark!
The main focus should be on seeing them all sold well before the Cup date.

Keep up to date with club events

If you would like to link your personal calendar to our clubs calendar through clubrunner here is how.

The Subscribe to Calendar button is an Internet Calendar Subscription that allows you to download and view all the events in it in your own personal email calendar.

Unlike a Calendar snapshot, which is where you add events to your own calendar manually, Internet Calendar Subscriptions are updated automatically. You can click on the Subscribe to Calendar button and copy the link to download and subscribe to the calendar, or someone can send you a link to the Internet Calendar Subscription in an e-mail message.

With the Subscribe to Calendar button, you essentially subscribe to your club or district calendar. As events are added to your website, they are also automatically added to your personal calendar in whichever email client you use.

    Hi everyone,
Please note that I am still trying to get some format organised for rosters, so there is a change in the meeting roster below. Sorry for any inconvenience, but it will sort out over the next month as members gradually return form warmer climes!
