Port Lincoln Airport Open Day, Charity Runway Walk, February 15th
A fun family day was held at the Port Lincoln Airport on Sunday the 15 of February 2015.  It was a major fund raising event for Variety the children charity.  The District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula provided a rare opportunity to walk the Airport Runway and inspect  a trainer jet, Aero Club’s displays, Airport facilities and aeroplane servicing facilities .  Bands and food kept the adults entertained, a jumping castle, hurdy-gurdyand face painting helped the children have a fun day.

OFF THE RUNWAY
 
ROTARY coordinated the food stalls, live music and the other activities.
 
These included snacks, Greek biscotti, smallgoods and gourmet pies, cakes and slices, BBQ, drinks, hand-made ice creams, nut sweets, smoothies, coffee and more.  There were plenty of tables and chairs so families could select from a choice of great foods and drinks and sit and listen to live music.
 
Port Lincoln Rotary Club member Geoff Rayson said the club is part of a worldwide organisation that raises funds for and operates numerous local and international charity programs.  Ridding the world of Smallpox and Polio and the Rotary Youth Exchange are three of our better known programs.

THE OFFICIAL OPENING  OF THE GATE TO RUNWAY AT 11AM SAW A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE DRESSED IN ALL SORTS OF COSTUMES EMBARK ON THE WALK.
