Harvest at Boston Bay Wines

Harvest in the Boston Bay vineyard is achieved in the old traditional way. Grapes are picked by hand when the grapes are just rite for harvest.

Local clubs are invited to participate by providing a team of enthusiastic pickers. Returns to the club are generous being a reward for the amount of effort that club provides.

The Rotary Club of Port Lincoln generally has about twenty or so members participate in the harvest each year. We have been a part of the Ford family vinyard harvests since its inception over 20 years ago.

Harvest is held over four or five, usually consecutive, weekends in the late summer with the average pick taking around 3 to 4 hours. Harvest is then followed by a light lunch and refreshments kindly organised by the Ford family.
