President's Pen
There will not be any formal Club meeting this week. Our next online ZOOM meeting will be at 7.30 am on 9 April when Katey Halliday will talk about her RYLA Oceania experiences. Unfortunately, due to coronavirus distancing requirements, there cannot be a ‘coffee conversation’ catch up this week as the White Picket Fence café is not available for groups.

Our first online meeting last week was very successful for those of us who were able to join the meeting. Unfortunately, some members had difficulty logging in or found their internet was too slow to manage to run the ZOOM technology. Hopefully we can overcome most of the problems by next week.  We will also trial some meeting protocols at our next meeting so that members can indicate when they want to join in the conversation so that we are not all trying to talk at the same time.

I hope that everyone is well and managing to adjust to our new life of minimal face-to-face social contact. Fortunately, the weather has been glorious so that we are able to spend time outdoors and appreciate the autumn colours whilst isolating. We’ve been enjoying a few different social activities such as having a family get together via Facebook messenger video, including those overseas, to do the weekend Advertiser quiz.  We’ve also been streaming the weekly cultural event made available on the National Paris Opera website during the coronavirus outbreak.

Upcoming meetings
Here are the meeting dates for the next two months:

Thursday 9 April, 7.30 am
Thursday 23 April, 7.30 am
Thursday 14 May, 7.30 am
Thursday 28 May, 7.30 am
Congratulations to the Riggalls
In these times of doom and gloom there is a good news story.
David Riggall and his partner Eliza are proud parents of baby Louis, who was born recently, weighing 3.5kg.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner

A young engineer was leaving the office at the end of the day when he found his boss standing in front of a shredder with a piece of paper in his hand.

"Listen," said the boss, "this is a very sensitive and important document, and my secretary is not here. Can you make this thing work?"

"Certainly," said the young engineer. He turned the machine on, inserted the paper, and pressed the start button.

"Excellent, excellent!" said the boss as his paper disappeared inside the machine, "I just need one copy."

Lesson: Never, ever, assume that your boss knows what he's doing.
