Richard Campbell
Rotary, Nepal and the earthquakes
Richard has recently been in Nepal and tells us: "The main motivator for this trip was brought about my good friend the Late David Rusk.  A retired School Principal, David had a deep concern for children who suffered educational disadvantages.  He believed his core purpose as a Rotarian was to create life-changing opportunities for young people.  In response to those needs, he initiated a number of programs for students, teachers and principals in Nepal over the past ten years.  David’s last project was raising funds to build a school next to a Nepal Orphanage for Dalit (Untouchable) children in Kathmandu. Unfortunately, David did not live to see the completion of this school and as I had previously agreed with him that I would go to Nepal on his next visit, which was to be the opening of the school I fulfilled that promise".
