During the holidays, our Club participated in a service project to make fleece blankets for mothers and children who are living at Abby's House in Worcester.  

 

Abby's House provides shelter & affordable housing as well as advocacy and support services to homeless, battered, and low-income women, with or without children.  This non-profit organization empowers the women they serve to lead self-directed lives filled with dignity and hope.

 

At our Wednesday, January 18 lunch meeting (12:00 noon at Tavolino's in Westborough), our guest speaker from Abby's House will be DonnaMaria Cameron.  At our meeting, DonnaMaria, who volunteers at Abby's House, will receive our gift of completed blankets and share her experience working at Abby's House. Her understanding of those in need, especially individuals who have been marginalized in our society, is both profound and inspirational.

 

A brief bio about DonnaMaria Cameron: 

Earning her Masters of Education degree from Harvard University, DonnaMaria is a teacher and administrator with over 25 years of experience in education, DEI training, curriculum development, and school design.  She founded and led an alternative high school in Attleboro for 11 years where she served at-risk students   Currently, she mentors and supervises students from Boston College who are training to become educators.
