Our newest Club members (STARS Group) embraced the spirit of Rotary yesterday and donated their time and effort to help the Polk PACE Center for Girls by painting the hallways and a bathroom. In addition to the paint and supplies needed for this work, the group is also donating a vacuum for use at the Center. We are so proud of their hard work and generosity for a worthwhile local cause! The members of this STARS class are Dan Borneman, Lynne Wiekert, Mark McRae, Greg Smith, Bill Rhey, Mike Carter, Frank Rebecky, and Mike Zellars. A shout out to Chris, an employee of Lakeland Belk, who donated his time and effort toward this project also. Great job all! ‪#‎embracethespiritofrotary  [Check out the STARS Class Project Photo Album for more great pictures!]

The Lakeland Rotary Club is at it again...partnering with our community!!

The Lakeland Rotary Club recently donated funds to help the Lakeland Fire Department purchase equipment for a new rescue boat. The Lakeland Fire Department will be holding a ceremony to "christen" the new boat and celebrate this collaboration with our Club. Lakeland’s Rotary Clubs are working together with the City of Lakeland Parks & Recreation to create an exciting new experiential playground at Lake Parker around the historic expedition of Hernando de Soto. The Rotary Playground in Hernando’s Landing on the shores of Lake Parker will be designed around the history of Florida and the joy of discovery. From a replica of a 16th century ship to a tree house to a zip line, the new park promises an experience unlike any other in our community.

ImageVeterans Day – Lt. Col. Darin Blatt, Speaker

Lt. Col. Blatt told us that Soldiers are Soldiers for life.  They carry that training and character into their private lives and occupations. And today a much smaller part of our citizens are Veterans.  He said that by 2014 our latest Wars will have created 517,000 veterans. To put that in perspective, 57 million returned from WWII resulting in the creation of the GI Bill that helped them re-enter society.

There are as many reasons to support

 The Rotary Foundation

as there are ways to do good in the world.

By contributing to the Foundation , you help support the Foundation's six areas of focus, which help to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. By giving US$100 a year through the Every Rotarian, Every Year  (EREY) initiative, you become a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member. Contributions to EREY are the primary source of funding for Foundation programs.

Here are a few ways your contributions are making change possible.
