Know & Grow Training

Know & Grow will provide families at three Lakeland Title 1 public schools with a Rotary branded and funded iPad after they attend three sessions of training at their school with Polk Vision, Polk County Public Schools, and our Lakeland Rotary volunteers. Polk County Public School employees will be providing the training sessions. The iPad will help families in need connect with crucial school curriculum and connect with their local school.

Nowadays, almost all classrooms for students require that they have a device to use at home, and this will provide one to families in need as long as they attend the training sessions.

As a representative and volunteer for The Lakeland Rotary Club, Know & Grow Lakeland Rotary Volunteers will:

  • Sit with an assigned parent at one of the community schools below during their three sessions of training
  • Assist the parent with navigating on an iPad as instructed by the Polk County Public Schools (PCPS) trainer (you don’t have to be a technology expert!)
  • Help the parent ask the PCPS trainer questions while the parent learns to navigate the school software
  • Reassure the parent throughout the training so they hopefully have a successful experience
  • Wear a rotary shirt (preferred by not required)

Know and Grow is a partnership between Polk Vision, the Polk County Public School System, and now The Lakeland Rotary Club. The goal of Know and Grow is to bridge the digital divide for students and families that do not have access to or the training on technology platforms, specifically iPads, which are used in today’s classrooms.
