Don Selvage & Gary Clark presented our Veterans Day Program. Don began by reminding our club of the Veterans Week events both in our club and community. He then recognized the 2022 Veteran of the Year – our very own Joe L Ruthven. Congrats to you Joe L & thank you for your service. Don informed the club of how the Spanish-American war played a role in the history of Lakeland. The Spanish American War Monument was unveiled this past Friday at the Veterans Day Event. Don told a funny story about the Veterans Day Parade which involved Gary Clark. Don recognized some of the WWII Veterans in our club’s history – Foster Heath, Willy Wolfson, and Dr. Henry McIntosh. Gary Clark also spoke and told a great story of taking Willy & Foster to an event at Sun & Fun and how they both were privately concerned about the health & well-being of the other. Gary also mentioned some of those who have always been supportive of Veterans Programs locally, including the Jenkins Family.
The program then concluded by recognizing our club’s veterans: Dick Mason, Brock Self, Ralph Allen, Joe McDonough, Cal Arter, Bill Chase, Deane Bart, Gary Clark, Greg Robinson, Rico Rich, Dorsey Hightower, Don Selvage, Bob Eckenroth, Joe L Ruthven, Vince Jones, Ron Denney, Michael Huff, Ginny Harris, Chuck McDanal, Scott Franklin, Dan Hill, Mark Davies, and Scott LaRonde. Thank you to all of you for your service!

Next week’s program will be from our very own Mike Loudon – “Reflection on Giving Thanks”
