President Carol opened the meeting, and called on Amanda Walls to handle the invocation, pledge and Four-Way Test.

Jason Heacock introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians.

Happy Dollars were collected by Mike Loudon.

For singing, Rebecca Borneman led us in an original song, “Rotary is Service.”

For announcements, President Carol asked Amanda Walls to fill us in on Spring Obsession. Amanda is the chair of the separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit that Rotary manages. It puts on this signature event every year to raise money for beautification projects in the community. The next one, on March 14 from 8-3 in Munn Park, features all things gardening, art and music, and will help us build two giant slides on the hills at the new Bonnet Springs Park. We are looking forward to seeing you all there, and we need sponsors and volunteers too for this once-a-year service project.

Carol reminded us that there is no meeting the week of Thanksgiving.

Also, she gave us the rundown on December’s busy calendar starting with VISTE box pickup at our next meeting (Dec. 3), the parade-watching party on Dec. 5, the Salvation Army Christmas Angel gifts on Dec. 17, and bell ringing from Dec. 16-24.

She then inducted four new members: Heide Waldron and Jennifer Swenson, sponsored by Kim Brunson; Caleb Bloodworth, sponsored by Ed Plastow; and Tyler Davis, sponsored by Will Harrell. Make sure to take a minute to welcome our newest Rotarians!

President Carol then turned the program over the Lori Garrard, who introduced our New Member Profiles. We heard from Jessica Kirby, who was sponsored by Michael Huff; and from Vivek Patel, who was sponsored by Kim Brunson. We then heard from longtime member Fred Oeters, giving our newer members a chance to learn more about Fred’s impressive history.

50/50: Mark Hutek handled the cards and Bill Sammons drew a king.
