Mike Loudon welcomed Rotarians and guests as they joined the Zoom meeting.
 
Immediate Past President Carol Wallace called the meeting to order. Mike Loudon led the invocation, and Carol Wallace led the pledge and Four-Way Test.
 
Trey Harden handled introduction of visiting Rotarians and guests. Barry Friedman was a guest of Irma Cole. Ryan McKellen was a guest of Gwen Allen, Scott Henley and Ryan Reece were guests of Michael Huff, and our visiting Rotarian was Doug McCall from the Rotary Club of Wallasey, England.
 
Roxanne Bonta was happy to announce that Central Florida Speech and Hearing is having a Recipe for Communication event on Thursday, April 29. Don Selvage was happy to announce a ceremony memorializing National Vietnam War Veteran Day at Veteran’s Memorial Park located on Lake Beulah Drive on Saturday, March 27th at 10 a.m. Carol Wallace was happy to share news of the birth of baby Maren Swan Schichtel, who is the daughter of Matt Schichtel and his wife Katherine and the granddaughter of Bill Schichtel.
 
Jack Lowman announced a fellowship event on Thursday, March 25th at Federal Bar at 5pm. He also reminded everyone that next Tuesday, March 30 is an in-person and Zoom hybrid meeting. 
 
The program then proceeded with Alice Hunt hosting a candidate forum with the four candidates for City Commission, who are: 
  • Steve Frankenberger (age 56) who is manager of the photography department at Publix Super Markets, where he’s worked for 36 years. He’s also owned and operated his own photography business for 20 years.
  • Mike Musick (age 49) who owner of Musick Construction and Roofing in Lakeland. The company has existed for nearly two decades.
  • Ken Post (age 55) who has worked for health-related nonprofits, focusing on building management, project management and strategic planning. He also spent three years working in human resources.
  • Shandale Terrell (age 46), who is an educator for Polk County Public Schools and works with special-needs students, analyzes academic assessment data, and mentors students.
