President Amanda introduced the program. Deane Hart has been a club member since 1973, has been on the Board of Directors, and is a four-time Paul Harris Fellow. He began by sharing a Lakeland newspaper from 1918 with a headline about the new Rotary Club in town. He also shared the history of his family in Rotary – his grandfather was secretary of the club. He was invited by Ralph Allen into the club.
Stephanie Bowes also comes from a long line of Rotary members. Her grandfather Bill Russell joined in 1960 and had 29 years of perfect attendance. Her dad, Jim Russell, joined in 1990 and also had perfect attendance for 30 years. Stephanie joined our club in 2018 and shared that its such a blessing to serve with her dad in our Club.
Joe L Ruthven was a mechanical engineer and spent four years in Saudia Arabia. When he came back to Lakeland, his neighbor Herb Todd brought Joe L into the club. Many Rotarians have had a major impact on Joe L. He asked his nephew-in-law Brandon Clark to join the club and is very excited that he is also a member.
President Amanda concluded the program with her word of the week: fecund, which means fruitful or fertile.
Next week’s program will be our very own Melody Rider, who will be speaking about Lakeland LEADS. stories.
