Beth Hesseltine welcomed members and guests as they joined the Zoom meeting.
President Joel Ivy opened the meeting. Mike Loudon led the invocation, pledge, and Four-Way Test.
Trey Harden handled introduction of visiting Rotarians and guests, who were:
  • Jessica Hart, guest of Deane Hart;
  • Taryn Jones, guest of Vince Jones;
  • Irma Cole, guest of District Governor Mark Scolnick;
  • John Loute and Carol Hornsby, guests of Don Selvage; and
  • Doug McCall from the Rotary Club of Wallasey England.
President Joel Ivy called for Happy Dollars.  Vince Jones was happy that his daughter Taryn was going to be singing as part of the program.
Melody Rider reminded the club that Spring Obsession is on March 13, 2021. The committee is seeking sponsors and is getting ready to roll out marketing materials for the event after the first of the year.
Jim Russell thanked those who have started ringing the bell for Salvation Army and those who have already signed up for upcoming shifts.
President Joel Ivy announced there will be no club meetings on December 29 or January 5. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Meetings will resume on January 12.
Mike Loudon then presented a very special holiday program. He provided a historical, cultural, and anthropological perspective on the three holidays celebrated in December - Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas - with musical interludes between each topic performed in the lovely soprano of Taryn Jones. The songs enjoyed by all were "Walking in a Winter Wonderland," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and "The 12 Days of Christmas." At the end of the meeting, a special photo tribute was paid to the late and beloved Jon Larson, who was the club's Santa for many happy years.
May you all experience a time of rest and renewal over the next two weeks as we reflect on 2020 and welcome a fresh new year!
