Leon Tucker Bio

Leon Tucker’s background as a journalist and communications expert has landed him in various roles over the course of his more than 20 years in the industry.

Leon has also worked as a staff writer at the Miami Herald, St. Petersburg Times, Boston Globe and the Tennessean Newspaper in Nashville, to name a few.

His career transitioned from reporting the news into managing the daily news cycle at The News Journal in Delaware. There, Leon led news coverage ranging from crime and public safety to government and politics.

During his time at The News Journal, Leon also served as an adjunct professor of journalism at Delaware State University. He would later be promoted to the post of Metro Editor at The News Journal’s sister paper, the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ and then to the position of Managing Editor.

As Managing Editor there, Leon led a newsroom staff of 75 reporters, editors, photographers, digital editors, graphic designers and copy editors, while coordinating with the heads of the newspaper’s circulation, advertising and production departments to put out a paper and run a website each day.

Leon is a graduate of Florida A&M University with a degree in Newspaper Journalism and lives in Lakeland with his wife and two sons.
