More CLUB NEWS
Sending our thoughts and prayers to Ray Anderson as he recovers.
Connie held a moment of silence for the students, families and friends of the HR STEM School.
She also shared a message from Carla Olsen, Interact, "In light of the heavy hearts that we feel after yesterday‘s horrific events, thought I would share what my middle school Interact students and their faculty were doing this morning at 6:45 AM before school. All of these PBJ sandwiches were made to be donated to Father Woody for distribution to the homeless. Then at 7:30 I met with my high school officers who are already strategizing for next year. Really great kids with a heart for service. Thanks to Rotary for all your support."
We will sadly say good-bye to Club members who will be moving and carrying on the Rotary tradition elsewhere; the Walsh's to Alabama and the Wellborn's to Iowa.
Dax Presuto and Steve Cory accepted support for Victory Service Dogs from the Military Committee

RYLA & YOUNG RYLA - Jan Keyton
Interviews for 2019 Conference have finished this past week, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. We have offered a “RYLA Award” to 6 Young RYLA students and 7 RYLA (high school) students. That equals 13 total Awards and we have paid for 15 this year, so 2 are still available for high school RYLA (where slots are still available). There are three girls and three boys going to Young RYLA (we were allotted six slots) and 2 girls and 5 boys to RYLA . I would be happy to answer any individual questions you may have.
Jan shared an application from one of the RYLA high school students; these kids are unbelievable and I respect Jan's challenges choosing kids! "However, what drives me and allows me to succeed, as a special talent would, is my desire to learn. There is no higher purpose for me, I have no predetermined path, and therefore I have been blessed with the opportunity to explore creation and consciousness without limit. Hence, my talent is that I want to see the world and live life to the fullest before I expire. This is not the only depth to my person, for what I think and strive for constantly changes; alas my one goal is to live. Some personal and career goals I have for my life is to do something of significance, as I desire to help my fellow man and grow mankind's knowledge for the universe."
