It is my pleasure and honor as District Governor to announce the selection of our District Governor 2021-2022. After careful consideration our District Nominating Committee has selected Rotarian Ray Anderson, member of the Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch since 1997. He served as President in the 2000-01. He currently is the Assistant Governor for Area 5 encompassing the clubs in Castle Pines, Castle Rock, and Highlands Ranch. Ray has served on the District Membership Committee, District Visioning, PETS Facilitator, and a graduate of RLI. Ray is a Paul Harris Fellow and member of the Paul Harris Society. He is proud his two nieces and granddaughter were able to attend RYLA and Junior RYLA.
If no challenging candidate is received, Rotarian Ray Anderson will officially become our District Governor 2021-2022 of District 5450 and his selection will be submitted to Rotary International. CONGRATULATIONS RAY!! Unfortunately a medical emergency prevented past District Governor and Chair of the District Nominating Committee, Abbas Rajabi from attending our Feb 7th meeting to make this announcement.

World Affairs Challenge – Saturday, Mar 2nd 2019 - Phil Calderbank
Jane and Kyle Kucharski, Anne and Dennis Wellborn, Mark Bellestri, Zig Berzins, and Phil Calderbank, attended the Judges training for the World Affairs Challenge (WAC) on Saturday, February 9th. I know that Kevin Mizer is also planning to be a judge on the day. As a reminder, the WAC is a competition for Middle School and High School teams, and this years final will take place on Saturday, March 2nd at DU AURARIA CAMPUS | Tivoli Turnhalle. Denver. Opposite the Pepsi Center. In addition to providing judges, our HR Rotary club has helped to coordinate a joint team that consists of students from Costa Rica and from Harrison High School in Colorado Springs. HR Rotary Foundation has also sponsored this team with a gift of $500, which will be used towards their travel expenses. We are still looking for judges and it is not too late to sign up. Please go to www.worldaffairschallenge.org , have a look around the site to get familiar with the event and then go to the link ‘Participants’. You will be able to sign up at that stage. You will then be asked to attend a two-hour training event. Note; the training can be done at the Posner Center; Down Town Denver, or you can join a live session from your computer and do it at home. Interested in being a spectator? Then just come along on the day and join in with the fun. Our Rotary will have a table top display and banner, so you will feel right at home. Bring guests; family, children, grandchildren and friends. Event details at www.worldaffairschallenge.com
Finally, our sponsored team from Costa Rica and Colorado Springs, has asked for our help to rehearse their presentation, prior to the event. The team will be together the week prior to the event, in Colorado Springs and so we are arranging for them to present to our Rotary through a video link. This session will take place at Lone Tree Golf Club at 2:00 pm on Thursday February 28th ; directly after our regular lunch meeting. Please plan to attend this exciting session if you can, and give your support to our HR Rotary sponsored team.
Communications - kudos to Fred for our new website, it's awesome!
Fred needs more pictures; follow the directions he posted under "View club documents" to learn how to access the drop box. Bob Walsh encouraged all to share and/or like our Rotary Facebook page; it has recently generated one potential new member! He's also venturing into Twitter and Instagram! (Scary for us old folks.)

Friendship Dinners - Jan Selinfreund
If you have never hosted a friendship dinner PLEASE consider hosting a friendship dinner in April. Basically you decide how you want to handle it such as sit down dinner, buffet or heavy appetizers. Which date you want April 6 or 13. How many people you can accommodate. Would you like to include kids or no kids? In the past some hosts have opted for a theme, one did a murder mystery night. Last time we hosted we had everyone write on a slip of paper as they entered something the thought the people in our club would not know about them as an ice breaker. Of course you do not have to plan anything as it does give the guests a chance to visit and get to know someone in our awesome club whom they haven't really gotten to know before. We are all one club, different meeting times.
Thank you again for considering hosting and let me know your thoughts and any questions you may have.
NCOA Golf Tournament Jun 21st - we're breaking records! This year we will provide or support 71 of the 80 golfers! And thank you Ray for the check for Dove bars!
