Announcements
  • The Spring Break meeting will be held at Big Boiler Brewing on April 4, 2018 at noon.
  • A big thanks goes out to Sylvia for coordinating the potluck last week.  We are getting closer to eradicating polio and small steps like having potlucks instead of catering on occasion is a great way for all of us to contribute!
  • Tony went to the Pre-PETS (President Elect Training Seminar) meeting in January and expressed his gratitude to all those who have served or are currently serving in the role of president.

March 24, 2018--Lowell Community Expo
Join the fun and excitement of this annual event by helping spread the word about Rotary.  As "People of Action" we have a great opportunity to let the community know how to join in and get connected.  Be on the lookout for the volunteer sign-up.

May 17-19, 2018--District Conference
Join other "people of action" this spring in Holland at the annual District Conference.  There will be parallel conferences for Rotary, Rotaract, Interact, and Rotary Youth Exchange this year.

June 23-27, 2018--Rotary International Convention, Toronto
If you ever wanted to attend a Rotary International Convention, 2018 is the year to do it.  Several members of the Lowell Rotary Club are already registered.  It should be an exciting time to celebrate being people of action.

Another Winner!
Sylvia may want to consider going to Vegas in the near future.  She drew the Ace of Spades from a fresh deck of cards!  Congrats, Sylvia.

Lowell Rotary Hard at Work:  A General Assembly Summary

Our local Rotary Club members work hard within difference committees to make a difference here in Lowell and around the world.  If a month has a fifth Wednesday, a general assembly is held.  Rather than having a speaker at these meetings, members will meet in the following committees:  Foundation (local Rotary foundation), Membership/PR, Service and Youth.  The following are brief updates on the work of each committee:

Foundation
The grants committee reviewed one grant application from the Lowell Middle School.  The committee voted to forward the application to the Board for their consideration.

Membership/PR
The group is refining the orientation documents shared with new members and the mentoring process.  While the Red Badges have been phased out, the committee wants to ensure new members are given the best possible beginning in Rotary.

Service
The raffle fundraiser planning is already underway.  Stay tuned on ways to help out with selling the tickets.  The group also discussed possible locations for the next auction since the Grand Volute is no longer open.  They also discussed possible fundraising goals.

Youth
There are currently 60-70 kids meeting regularly at the Interact meetings.  They have divided into committees to help streamline the meetings and make the numbers more manageable.  Five students have been identified as potential Life Leadership participants.
