This Week:

Nate gave a quick up date, on the fly, on how Lowell Schools are doing back to school. It has been a lot of work, but great people are working through all the problems that crop up. 15-17% of students opted to be virtual, the rest started hybrid. The elementary schools are 100% back and the MS and HS plan to be fully back Sept 28th. Football season has started. Only parents are invited to attend. 13 students have had to be quarantined due to exposure or testing positive for COVID19. The schools are working to give kids as many opportunities as possible. Wendie gave a shout out to the schools for how well they are handling the new year.

Have a wonderful week!

Rotary Fact

Shred It for Rotary Celebrate an Alternative Red Flannel Day with the Cedar Springs Rotary Club!

Since we can’t hold our annual Rotary Chicken Dinner on Red Flannel Day, we are hosting a “shred” event. Rather than gain a bit eating chicken with all the fix’ns, lighten your load by cleaning out the cabinets and bring those boxes of papers you want to get rid of but didn’t feel like they should go in the Paper Gator! West Michigan Shredding will turn them into dust while you watch.
• Saturday, October 3
• Family, Farm and Home front parking lot at 4175 17 Mile Road NE
• From 10 to Noon
• Cost: $10 for four banker’s/10 ream paper sized boxes, $5 for each additional box up to a total of eight.
How can you help?
Rid yourself of the clutter of old records, in a safe manner and make a difference in the world. Box up your old, sensitive records and bring them to Family, Farm, and Home; pay a nominal fee and your items will be secure and safely shredded. Don’t worry about stapled items but do remove any papers that may be in plastic. Funds generated with support community organizations and activities! Last year we provided $1,000 in Meijer Simply Give cards that were doubled by Meijer in support of the Cedar Springs Community Food Pantry and $5,000 to North Kent Connect (including a matching grant from Rotary District 6290). We charter BSA Troops 222B and 222G providing for them a meeting place in Morley Park. This spring the Club donated funds to help the Cedar Springs Community Library’s highly successful, virtual Summer Reading program.
